Canada Goose Kensington Down Parka - Women's

Canada Goose Kensington Down Parka - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 November 9, 2011

purchased this coat after being not 100% sold on the montebello for warmth. the kensington certainly feels like it will be a very warm coat. I'm a size 6 and the small fits well. It is "relatively feminine" fit for what it is: a long down puffer. The urban details/styling are really nice and take away the "frump factor" The hood is nice and warm (fuzzy lining) and the pockets and handwarmer pockets are fleece lined which is cozy. Only thing that isn't too great is that the neck, when zipped all the way up, is quite TIGHT. Never had that happen before. Also, love the internal straps to wear on your back like a backpack when you are indoors.

Canada Goose CG55 Montebello Down Parka - Women's

Canada Goose CG55 Montebello Down Parka - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 November 2, 2011

I ordered this parka because I live in Chicago and the winters can be brutally cold and windy. I've owned numerous North Face and Patagonia jackets/coats/parkas but was hoping to step it up a notch in terms of style and especially warmth. Canada Goose parkas cost about double the amount of a similar patagonia or north face styles but I don't mind paying extra as long as I feel as if I'm getting a much superior product. Given that CG makes parkas for arctic expeditions, it seemed like a good start. I ordered the limited edition grey because I was also hoping that the exterior fabric would be lighter/more flexible than the standard (winter coats can be so heavy!). I've never seen the "standard" version in person so I can't say for sure but the exterior fabric isn't as soft/light as I had hoped. On the upside, the grey is somewhat darker than pictured and, while it has a sheen, it is not "super slick" shiny. The overall fit is fairly trim but hey, this is a down parka so it is never going to win the "slimming" award so I would say it is "OK" looking and perhaps even kind of cute but not amazing. I'm a small-busted, small-hipped size 6 and the small "just" fit me (no room for heavy layers) so I'd suggest sizing up one size if you are curvy or want room for some medium to thick layers. The chest warmer pockets are a bit awkward as you basically have your hands right on your "chest." The hip pockets should have slits on the side so you can comfortably slide your hands in there rather than from the top flap hip pockets which is awkward/uncomfortable. This has the most major hood I've ever come across. When fully zipped up the hood forms a 6 in tunnel that protrudes in front of your face. I can imagine that the hood is extremely warm and protective when outside on a bitter, windy day. The downside to the hood is also that it protrudes so dramatically - it is awkward to zip the jacket just up to chin level because the zipper starts curving right at the neck to under the chin. And, most importantly, the first thing I thought when I pulled the jacket out of the package is: "this feels incredibly flimsy and I can't believe it will be very warm). Because it isn't winter yet, I can't really test it out but I've got to say, I'm very unimpressed with the perception of how warm this will be. Apparently there is body mapping and I don't know if they use higher quality down or what but I'm not sure this is going to do the trick and for the price I expect it to be AMAZING. The inner straps to carry the jacket on your back when not wearing it indoors is a genius idea. I'm going to think about it but for the price I doubt this is a keeper.

Patagonia Better Sweater Jacket - Women's

Patagonia Better Sweater Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 December 23, 2010

Just got this in the butterfly blue and I adore it! The color is very pretty - blue with a purple undertone and quite true to the photo. The fit is slim and feminine - not at all boxy. I'm 5'7" and I appreciate the long torso length and sleeves (if only it had thumbholes it would be perfect). The interior is soft and cozy and the "sweater" outside gives it polish. I want another color now!!

Figure-flattering Down

The North Face Down Triclimate Jacket - Women's

The North Face Down Triclimate Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 December 17, 2008

All in all this is a really nice jacket. I'm a big fan of North Face and own several jackets and vests for various temps and conditions. What I had yet to find, however, was a warm down jacket that was also figure-flattering and didn't make me look like a giant marshmallow. This jacket is it. It is very stylish and has a nice feminine shape. It is warm but not uber-warm (I'll pull out my north face metropolis for the really tough temps as that has a down hood and comes to my knees). But for "typical" cold midwest winters this is quite cozy. The neck comes up really high, which I like, but is a bit stiff but I'm willing to put up with it. Also the down jacket underneath is cute on it's own (also flattering) but more of a lightweight "down sweater" type rather than a hefty duty down jacket. The hood is strictly for rain/snow and doesn't provide any warmth. I got the black which looks great.

The North Face Double Down Reversible Jacket - Women's

The North Face Double Down Reversible Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 1 December 3, 2008

I own several north face jackets and coat (both down and fleece) and I really like their products. I saw this and it looked like a really stylish alternative to the traditional down north face styles. No reviews posted anywhere so I went ahead and ordered. It is soooo ugly. The black side is very, very, very shiny/wet looking and although the photo makes it look figure-flattering it is dumpy looking on. This one is going straight back!

KEEN Betty Boot - Women's

KEEN Betty Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 December 3, 2008

Got the brown/mint. sooooo cute and comfy - especially for a hefty duty winter snow boot. Lightweight too : ) As with all Keens, order 1/2 size up from your normal or if between two sizes, go to the larger of the two. This is a big winner!

GLAD ABOUT THESE GLADIS

Reef Gladi Sandal - Women's

Reef Gladi Sandal - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 May 30, 2008

Wow, I'm in love with these! I'm a size 8.5. I ordered the size 8 and hoped for the best -- perfect fit (so I'd say these run a tad large). I ordered the silver and the brown, not knowing which I would prefer and thinking I'd end up sending one of the colors back. I immediately went head over heels for the silver which is darling and feminine. I like the brown as well, not a stunning as the silver, but I think I may end up keeping them as well simply so I have a dark and light option to go with different outfits. These are light as a feather with super soft straps and really nice cushioning for such a thin sole. The gladiator look is so hot right now and I think these are a very reasonably priced, super duper darling and ultra comfy way to stay on top of this trend!

One Sharp Jacket

Mountain Hardwear Flip Jacket - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Flip Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 29, 2007

I saw this jacket and had to have it. It is very sleek and figure flattering. Got it in the red lava/shark combo. The contrast stitiching really shows up against the red which makes it fun and funky while the reverse side is a great basic black and equally attractive in its own way - i love the reversible feature. I purchased this for cool to colder fall days as I live in a climate where I have to break out the serious down parka in winter. When things run s/m/l I typically take a medium although sometimes a small (and I'd say I'm usually a size 6-8). I was swimming in the medium and the sleeves were long (I'm 5ft 6in), however I don't intend on wearing bulky layers under this. Since this was the case I went with the small which fit with thin/medium clothing underneath and hugged every curve without being restrictive. I LOVE this jacket.

One Of The Best Keen Styles Yet

KEEN Zerraport Sandal - Women's

KEEN Zerraport Sandal - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 April 24, 2007

I own a gazillion pair of Keens. Big fan of the brand. The Zerraport is now my favorite Keen sandal. I have a pair of Newports which are comfy but my feet get hot hot hot. These have a ton of comfort and support but are more open and thus my feet don't overheat. The strapping is genius, not even aware that I have anything on my foot. And the back strap is removable if you want to use it as a slip-on. Great. I take an 8.5 in most street shoes and always a 9 in keen. take a 9 in these same as my other keens.

Love this coat. So light and unrestrictive that you don't even know you're wearing it. Except for the fact that is is nice and warm. Very sleek and stylish looking -- no marshmallow puffer here. Brownie is a lovely color. Hood is great and not dorky looking. Very happy with this coat!
