Decent booties, nice fit

The North Face NSE Tent Bootie - Women's

The North Face NSE Tent Bootie - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 March 4, 2008

I bought these booties as part of a winter camping bootie system to include TNF tent bootie and an OR overboot. I used them camping in the Adirondacks in mid-20 degree temps and found them to keep my feet quite warm. I was hoping they would have a little more loft and I will need to beef up my bootie system for colder weather. They have a nice traction sole with a harder bottom which will make them nice for 3-season camping as well. I wear a W's 7 and ordered the XS. They fit nicely but a W's 7.5 or larger should definitely order the next size up.

Very warm pants!

Mountain Hardwear Absolute Zero Down Pant - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Absolute Zero Down Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 4, 2008

I ordered these pants after coming back from a winter camping trip in Wyoming in January that left me wishing for more insulation. They are extremely warm! The waterproof fabric is also a huge bonus seeing as they are insulated with down instead of synthetic. I was concerned about the zipper as it didn't unzip the pants for easy on/off, but I found I could undo the zippers most of the way, making the leg tunnels huge, and easily step in even wearing ski boots and booties. I used them in the Adirondacks for a ski trip and was almost too warm. I also spilt a bit of water on them while cleaning out my bowl and was delighted to see the water just roll down the fabric. I am a smaller woman (125lbs, 5'2'') and ordered a men's small. They fit nicely over my long underwear layers and are a great length (not too long like most men's ski apparel.) A medium would have fit over all my lower body layers including my ski pants, but I think they would have been way too long. All in all, a great product.

Very warm jacket!

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero SL Hooded Down Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero SL Hooded Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 4, 2008

This is a GREAT jacket for any winter pursuit! The hood and collar make this jacket extremely warm. There are also numerous deep pockets for keeping various things organized winter camping. The fabric is advertised as highly water resistant and it certainly is. Even in wet snow, this jacket retains it's loft. I would highly, highly recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a good winter parka.

Great part of a bootie system

Outdoor Research Brooks Ranger Overboots - Men's

Outdoor Research Brooks Ranger Overboots - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 4, 2008

I bought these OR overboots as a winter camping bootie system to be complimented with an inner down bootie and a wool mountaineering sock. They work well for their intended purpose and kept my feet dry and warm. They're also lightweight and pack down pretty small for stuffing into a pack. An all around nice choice for winter camping footwear.
