  • Stomping Grounds:

    Mainly lower Michigan, rivers, trails
  • Bio:

I just enjoy being outdoors. Winter is my favorite time of the year. There's nothing like being out cross country skiing on a cold day, enjoying the silence & the beauty that Mother Nature provides. Kayaking, biking, hiking - all things I enjoy doing. I enjoy backcountry.com as I get gear I know will be comfortable, so that's one less thing to deal with.

Kokatat OutFit Tour Life Jacket

Kokatat OutFit Tour Life Jacket

Rating for this product: 5 May 4, 2009

I finally got a chance to get out in the kayak with the OutFit jacket & I was very pleased with it. I had it on for 6.5hrs & I would not have even noticed I had it on except that I was constantly pulling gear out of the pockets of the jacket. It was nice to be able to quickly get to my camera & GPS. The pockets are not water proof, but I keep my camera in a ziploc bag, so problem solved. I'd definitely recommend this jacket.

I just got these about two weeks ago & I absolutely love them. Very warm & comfortable. I've been plunging around in knee deep snow & these boots keep out all the snow.

Great Pants

Salomon Terra Zip-Off Convertible Pant - Men's

Salomon Terra Zip-Off Convertible Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 21, 2008

Like just about every other piece of Salomon gear I own, these pants are great. They're nice for hiking on days where it may start off cold, but then it heats up & you need to shed some clothing. The shorts are a bit longer then most zip off pants I looked at - about knee length, which is what I wanted. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the Safari color definitely does not look like the color on the website. It is more of an army green.
