High school teacher by day, runner and yoga practitioner on weekends and evenings. 95% bicycle commuter (fixed gear), and roadie when there's time. Typically get 10 days per winter on snow in VT and NH, just switched from a race board with plates to a Burton custom with the stiffest boots and bindings I could find. My next steps are ChiRunning certification and running workshops, Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training, and learning to Tele.

Incredible fit and feel

Black Diamond Push Telemark Ski Boot - Men's

Black Diamond Push Telemark Ski Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 8, 2009

After being a bit hesitant about the price, I reflected back to my past experiences with Black Diamond, all positive, and decided to go for it.

First, I ordered a half size too small, but Backcountry, in their exceptional customer service, got me straightened out the next day with the right size. Then still a bit worried because of toe-bump, I called Black Diamond, and Adam gave me advice from his experience with the Push in the same size...

I haven't skied them yet, but my initial reaction is this: incredibly comfortable and well thought out. In my years skiing alpine and snowboarding on alpine boards with plastic boots, NEVER have a pair felt so good straight out of the box. After walking around in them for about an hour, my feet settled right in, and the responsive flex in the bellows really shone through. Riding them for the first time tomorrow, but I am confident I'll be impressed.

Fantastic, a new standard

Patagonia Active Sport Brief - Men's

Patagonia Active Sport Brief - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 18, 2008

I have a few pairs of these now, and they're replacing my Under Armour briefs, especially for running and yoga. They dry nearly instantly, hold up well, and come with Patagonia's guarantee and recycling program. The butt is just a tiny bit big, so there's sometimes a bit too much material in a pair of running tights, but not enough to cause chafing or even be noticeable once my focus goes to my run.

Outdoor Research Flex-Tex Gaiter

March 6, 2008

I saw in a magazine (outside, perhaps), that someone does a high-quality pair of strap replacements for these gaiters - the replacement is a rubber strap, instead of the stretchy nylon these ship with. Anyone know who makes those?
