Patagonia Down Sweater Jacket - Men's

December 2, 2008

Considering this jacket as my main insulation layer for a Kilimanjaro summit, along with a mid- to heavy-weight Capilene base, technical softshell and Arc'Teryx ProShell outer layer.I generally run pretty warm and after trying this on in the store it seemed pretty toasty. But I'm led to expect -15F for several hours on the summit day. Any ideas as to whether this thinner 800-fill down layer will be (acceptably) comparable to a bulkier 600-fill with regard to insulation?

Love this glove!

Arc'teryx Hardface Glove - Unisex

Arc'teryx Hardface Glove - Unisex

Rating for this product: 5 December 14, 2004

This glove works great in just about every situation I've used it for. They're dry, windproof and warm enough to use alone for spring skiing or other cool weather activities, but thin and breathable enough to wear around town or as a liner.

They're snug and relatively thin compared to other gloves with the same "specs", so they don't inhibit handling keys, opening a ski rack, or dialing a phone. Plus, they look great with any jacket: fleece, Gore-tex, wool or leather.
