The Peak Performance Heli Gloves should keep your hands warm and comfortable in temps from 0-25 without any issues. Just tried these on in Vancouver and was very impressed with the fit which seems to be true to size - check the sizing chart link above to double check measurements.

Yes, Thermocool is Peak's proprietary version of Primaloft. I'm not sure of the exact amount/weight of insulation in the Peak Performance Purden; however, having worn these a few times (and liked them) I'd say that they have somewhere around 250-300 grams of insulation on the back of the hand and roughly half that on the palm. These have a great feel and fit for being a warm ski glove - definitely not bulky feeling in my opinion.

Hi kpencil,
The Women's Heli mitt's shell is made of windproof, waterproof and breathable HESTRA Triton/Polyamide.
If you're partial to Gore-Tex, I'd recommend checking out the Hestra XCR Mitt - it is very similar to the Heli Mitt in terms of fit and warmth; the main difference is the XCR has a Gore-Tex insert combined with the HESTRA Triton shell fabric. This waterproofing combination might give the XCR an edge over the Heli Mitt on the wettest days; however, for the majority of days on the hill, either of these mitts will be excellent.

Hi Seth,
The page you referenced on Costa's site is a bit outdated, as it does not show any of their 580p lenses. Costa recently added a new lens to their 580 lineup, the 580p Lens. The 580P offers the color clarity & quality that you have grown to love in the 580 glass lenses, but is now been placed in a Lightweight, Impact Resistant, and Coated for Durability polycarbonate lens. The Fantails on this page have the Costa 580P lens, which are available in Amber, Grey and Copper Tints.

Hi Carlos,
The main difference between the Radar Range and Radar XL is the height of the lens - the Radar XL is 7 millimeters taller than the Radar Range. Both glasses are the same width, and do accommodate wide faces well. So, if you want some extra lens coverage I would go with the XL - if you were more concerned with the sunglasses fitting a wider face, either one would be a good choice.

You've got a few options for mounting your ContourHD on your Variant Brim other than the goggle strap mount. Since the Variant Brim has so many vents, I like using the ContourHD Vented Helmet Mount (to find it search VHR0006). You can use it to mount on top of your helmet, just turn the lens 90 degrees so it frames your vid properly.

For my Hestra Gloves, I always apply after leaving the gloves near a heater in my house for a little while to make sure that they are warm/room temperature, but not too hot. Don't worry about getting the the waterproofing on the synthetic parts of the glove, it will just make it more water repellent. I usually re-apply the leather balm and/or waterproofing 1/2 way through the season to keep the leather in good shape.

(Here it is, directly from Ian at V.I.O)
The differences between the POV.1 and the POV 1.5: The POV 1.5 is an upgraded version of the POV.1. All accessories, cameras heads, mounts, and SD cards that work on the POV.1 will work on the POV 1.5 and vice versa. Below are three major changes: - The POV 1.5 has the v1.3 firmware already installed (the 8GB SDHC firmware) - The POV 1.5 comes with the orange "tethered" camera head. The permanently attached AV cable reduces cable/pin damage cause by improper head connections. This camera head works with the POV.1 as well as the POV 1.5, and has the same field of view and resolution as that of the POV.1 Wide Angle camera head. - Different mounts come with the POV 1.5: Star Mount and the Double Hook and Loop Mount. Please note that mounts can be purchased separately of a POV.1 or POV 1.5. The only exceptions are the mounts in the POV Mount Kit.

Personally, I wear my Hestra gloves without any liners - the Vertical Cut gloves are warmer than they look. That said, if you would like to wear liners with these, I'd suggest a nice, thin liner like the Icebreaker Glove Liner (ICE0218) - we will be getting more in Aug/Sept. Your Hestra's sound like they are the right fit, especially after they pack out during some spring skiing! Enjoy

There are a number of aspects of the physical and chemical structure of Merino that make it naturally more resistant to odors than other textiles, especially synthetics.
Moisture Transport - While sweat itself has no odor, if it remains on the skin in time bacteria develop and create unpleasant body odors. Merino reduces the opportunity for odors to generate because it is more efficient than other textiles at absorbing sweat and evaporating it into the air.
No Microbial attraction - Studies have shown that bacteria are more attracted to the smooth, positively charged surface of a synthetic fiber than the scaly surface of a Merino fiber which carries no charge.
Moisture Absorption - The Merino has a much greater capacity than other fibers to absorb moisture. In fact, it can absorb 35% of its own weight in liquid. The moisture is bound within the structure, and so is not available to microbes, which are unable to penetrate the scaly surface of the fiber.
Glass Transition - In water and conditions of high humidity, Merino passes through what is termed a glass transition at which point it dramatically increases its rate of absorption and dispersion.
Trapping Odors - The rate of diffusion of small and large molecules into the fiber increases and it is able to absorb odors faster. When the temperature drops, and the fiber once again falls below the glass transition, the odors are trapped within the structure even if the moisture evaporates. Later, during laundering, the garment again passes through the glass transition point and the odors are carried out of the structure by the water. Synthetics are not able to benefit from this same effect because they do not pass through glass transition during normal wear.

Measure the hand cirumference around your hand at the widest point excluding the thumb. Just below the base of your fingers. That will give you the correct measurement.

I bought these shoes aroung Thanksgiving 2008. I have a similar size foot as you and bought the 11.5. They fit perfect. I also have a narrow foot and they fit snug, not uncomfortable, just the opposite. I am a carpenter and wear these shoes 6 days a week and my feet never hurt. These shoes replaced my $150.00 Red Wing work boots, which are very comfortable and supportive shoes. I would not hesitate to buy these again. They seem to be wearing fine...I do not do any hiking, etc. But they get a pretty good workout on the jobsite.**I definitely agree with the advice above - I wear a 12 in Nike and New Balance, and the 11.5 fits perfectly. I actually ordered both the 11.5 and the 12 just to make sure, and the 12 felt slightly large. Wearing the 11.5 right now and am very happy.

The leather will repel water and dirt, but like any product, use over time can make things dirty. The link below is Hestra's care advice website:www.hestragloves.com/www/live/hestragloves/HGStandar

It will work on Mountain Bikes as long as you don't have a beefed-up Thru-Axle, like a 20mm... if you have a "standard" quick-release on your mtb, you should be good to go.

Keep in mind that they ski pretty short because of the twin tip and lots of guys my size (5'9", 175) ski the 183's. You should be OK on the 190's if you are a strong skier (sounds like it).No doubt about it cju - you are a 190 without question! I am 6'2" 194 and the 190 is perfect.

These would work ok as a powder ski, But in my opinion if you are adding to a quiver and looking for a ski to just ski powder I would go with something a lot wider then the gotama, there is so many fat pow skis that would give you that floaty - surfey feel .. such as hellbents in 189 -- moment komi's -- armada arg -- pontoons -- line prophet 130 -- volkl kantana -- liberty double helix -- rossie S6.. I would look for skis with at least 115mm in the waist and go from there. AS for bindings for your weight you will need a 14 din + binding look - rossie px14, 15 or 18, salomon sth 14 or 16 marker jester is another option. For your weight I think you would be better off with a wider ski than the gotamaWillie is right on point - if you have a quiver, there is no need to get the Gotamas - I have them and love them, don't get me wrong... I use them as my everyday skis! For a full-blown powder ski, you'll be stoked on a super-wide setup...the ARGs are my weapons of choice at Alta when the going gets good, and if I were going to get another pair to replace the ARGs, I would get the Volkl Kuro or the Black Diamond Megawatts. They are a bit stiffer than the Hellbents, and I think you'll really appreciate the extra heft. Have a great winter!

I was wondering the same thing when I bought mine. After using the Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Sleeping Pad for summer camping in Moab, Ut multiple times, I am psyched! I think the insulation really helps keep your body at a good temperature - but it doesn't generate any noticeable heat from what I can tell. It is great in all temperatures based on my experience - just used it for two nights in Jackson Hole this weekend, and had no comfort or warmth issues - a good thing, considering there was a frost on Friday night!
