Rating for this product: 5 5 days ago

I use my Sender belt for just about everything and it is fantastic. Skiing, Fly Fishing, hanging out (yes, it's great on Jeans/Khaki pants too) - the sender belt is great. Stretchy and comfortable, while still being strong and resilient. I highly recommend the TNF Sender Belt.

Great Altimeter/HR Monitor/GPS for Mountain Biking

Suunto Ambit HR Altimeter Watch

Suunto Ambit HR Altimeter Watch

Rating for this product: 5 May 16, 2012

I just got the Suunto Ambit HR Altimeter and so far, it has been amazing. Suunto managed to pack a ton of punch into this relatively compact Altimeter/Heart Rate Monitor/Compass/GPS watch - it is comfortable to wear as an everyday piece and looks great. The Ambit truly shines when all of it's tech functionality is put to use - I just used mine for a mountain bike ride yesterday and was very impressed. It is super easy to setup out of the box and even easier to activate one of its many training/exercise modes. With two clicks, I was in "Mountain Bike" mode, calibrated to the nearest GPS satellite, and wit my 3rd click, I had started recording my ride. During the ride, I was able to see everything I wanted - average speed, current speed, distance traveled, rate of ascent/descent, current altitude, heart rate (max/min/avg), temperature, and of course time. When I was done with my ride, I clicked the stop button, and the ride was saved on the watch. Once I got home, I was able to use the USB cable to upload my ride's stats into my movescount profile and recharge the watch at the same time. I would highly recommend the Suunto Ambit.

Oakley Frogskins - still one of the most classic sunglasses

Oakley Frogskins Sunglasses

Oakley Frogskins Sunglasses

Rating for this product: 5 April 25, 2012

I got the Matte Black/Violet Iridium Frogskins, they are great lightweight and comfortable everyday sunglasses. I have a large head and the fit of the Frogskins is excellent - I'm amazed by how many different face sizes they do fit - all of my friends, girls and guys, big and small that have tried them on have liked the fit. The Violet Iridium lenses reduce glare nicely without being super dark. They have a nice amber base that provides a bit of increased contrast, so they're great for the sunniest days as well as overcast ones - a great choice for road trips. This classic gets five stars from me.

Dark Grey Airbrake Lenses - Perfect for Bright Days

Oakley AirBrake Replacement Lens

Oakley AirBrake Replacement Lens

Rating for this product: 5 December 27, 2011

Just got the Dark Grey Airbrake Replacement lens - it's a perfect lens for bright days on the mountain. I've always liked Oakley's Fire Iridium for bright days and had heard good things about the Dark Grey recently, so I wanted to try it out. While the Dark Grey and Fire Iridium lenses have similar light transmission rates (10% and 16% respectively), they definitely put a slightly different spin on things as their tinting and contrast differs. In my experience so far, the Dark Grey is best suited for the brightest days of the season - they do a great job of cutting glare and allowing your eyes to relax. As their title suggests, these lenses are dark - think limo tint. Even though the dark grey doesn't have an iridium mirror, it's virtually impossible to see the eyes of the person wearing them. When taken out in med-bright to overcast days, the Dark Grey lenses aren't necessarily the best tool for the job, but they'll get you where you want to go. This, in my opinion is what differentiates the Dark Grey from the Fire Iridium - the Fire Iridium seem to handle variable light conditions with more ease - they let in a bit more light, so that's understandable. If you want to learn more about the different Oakley replacement lens light transmission rates, just click the "Size?" link below the "select options" dropdown menu at the top right of the page.

December 26, 2011

Yes, Thermocool is Peak's proprietary version of Primaloft. I'm not sure of the exact amount/weight of insulation in the Peak Performance Purden; however, having worn these a few times (and liked them) I'd say that they have somewhere around 250-300 grams of insulation on the back of the hand and roughly half that on the palm. These have a great feel and fit for being a warm ski glove - definitely not bulky feeling in my opinion.

Great Goggle Case - Holds 4 easily

Rating for this product: 5 November 28, 2011

The Smith Goggle Carrier is a great solution for anyone with more than 1 or two pairs of goggles. I'm able to fit 4 pairs of goggles and 4 sets of replacement lenses easily - the internal baffles are padded and attach via velcro, so they're easy to move and accomodate different goggle shapes. I'd recommend this case to anyone who like to keep their goggles in good shape and all in one place!

Hestra Heli Mitten - Women's

November 1, 2011

Hi kpencil,

The Women's Heli mitt's shell is made of windproof, waterproof and breathable HESTRA Triton/Polyamide.

If you're partial to Gore-Tex, I'd recommend checking out the Hestra XCR Mitt - it is very similar to the Heli Mitt in terms of fit and warmth; the main difference is the XCR has a Gore-Tex insert combined with the HESTRA Triton shell fabric. This waterproofing combination might give the XCR an edge over the Heli Mitt on the wettest days; however, for the majority of days on the hill, either of these mitts will be excellent.

Oakley Airbrake - taking form and function to the next level

Oakley AirBrake Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 September 21, 2011

I tested the Oakley Airbrake goggles for most of the 2011 spring season in Little Cottonwood Canyon - these goggles are the real deal. The Airbrake fits well with or without a helmet, provides the unparalleled optical clarity we've come to expect from Oakley and the new Switchlock technology makes changing lenses easier than it has ever been for goggles. I'd be surprised if it takes me more than 30 seconds to switch lenses - one extra set is included. While I still like the Smith I/O, Oakley Splice and Oakley Crowbar, the Airbrake is my new #1 goggle - highly recommended. Picture of Airbrake's Switchlock system attached.

Nuun Mixed Fruit Nuun Tube - 4 Pack

Rating for this product: 5 August 30, 2011

I've been trying out the Fruit Punch/ Tropical/ Grape/ Strawberry Lemonade mixed fruit Nuun 4-pack and really like the new flavors. My personal favorite out of this 4-pack is the Strawberry Lemonade, followed closely by Tropical. I like the Grape and Fruit Punch too - really, it just comes down to personal preference. Contour+ Camera Review

Contour Contour+ Camera

Contour Contour+ Camera

Rating for this product: 5 August 18, 2011

I've been using the Contour+ Camera for about 2 months now and really like it. The Contour+ definitely gives any camera on the market some very stiff competition. The new, super-wide 170degree lens is a noticeable improvement especially when filming fast moving sports like mountain biking. The video quality is top notch. For any fast moving and/or bumpy adventures, I usually prefer setting it at 720p 60fps because the faster frame rate keeps the recording nice and smooth. For everything else, the 1080p 30fps setting is great. I highly recommend checking out the Contour+, it is excellent.

Julbo Montebianco Sunglasses - Spectron 4 Lens

Julbo Montebianco Sunglasses - Spectron 4 Lens

Rating for this product: 5 May 10, 2011

Just got back from testing the Julbo Montebianco Sunglasses in the Sierras. With base camp set on Peaklet, we spent three days skiing and exploring the zones around Mt. Humphrey’s and Mt. Locke. Being sunny spring in the Sierras, my new Montebianco glasses with the Polarized Spectron 4 lens were put to the test straight away. From skinning and booting during the day to recouping at base camp in the afternoons, my new Julbos delivered exactly what I had hoped they would: unparallelled protection from the powerful spring sun, a comfortable and customizable fit (the arms are pliable allowing you to mold them for just the right fit), and crystal-clear optics. The removable side shields are great - on the longer/harder climbs, I popped them off and stashed them in my pocket to let my face breathe and to make sure perspiration did not get trapped inside. Highly recommended.

EURO Socks Digits Silver Ski Sock

EURO Socks Digits Silver Ski Sock

Rating for this product: 5 February 27, 2011

Today was my first day skiing in the Euro Sock Digits Silver and I'm blown away. Since these socks are built specifically for the right and left foot, the padding is in all the right places without making it a bulky sock. The Euro Sock Digit fit much like a liner sock, so I had absolutely zero boot fitting issues - if you're like me and have a super-snug boot, don't worry, you'll still be able to get into your boots. Highly recommended - just try them out and see for yourself.

Aerios 14 - Great Mountian Bike Pack

Arc'teryx Aerios Daypack 14 - 854cu in

Rating for this product: 5 November 4, 2010

I got the Arc'teryx Aerios Daypack 14 a couple months ago and it's been a great pack for me so far. It is super light, comfortable and holds much more stuff than I would have expected thanks to its external bungees. I pulled my hydration bladder from my old Camelbak, and dropped it into the Aerios 14 with no problem - there is plenty of room for an emergency rain shell, all my tools, pump, extra tubes, some snacks and my pads fit nicely under the external bungees. When I transferred all my equipment from my Camelbak, I thought I was just going to "test" it out as a mtb pack; however, now that I've used it for 15 rides I am convinced that the Aerios 14 is a great mountain bike pack.

The Maui Catt III feels very solid on the face and the rubber nose pads along with the spring hinges make all the difference, as I rarely have to adjust them. I have a Med-Wide face and these fit great - the HCL Bronze lens has been great in various light conditions. I definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a sold pair of Wayfarers with outstanding optical clarity.

The Altimeter and time keeping has been absolutely accurate - I have not needed to recalibrate the Altimeter or Barometer on the PAW2000 like I have had to on other Altimeter watches in this category. I like the intuitive controls, clear digital display and overall looks of this watch. To get a better feel for the PAW2000, check out the video posted on this page. 5 out of 5 stars without question.

V90 Max are Great Riding Glasses

Smith PIVLock V90 Max Sunglasses

Smith PIVLock V90 Max Sunglasses

Rating for this product: 5 June 2, 2010

I've been wearing my Smith V90 Max sunglasses since the 24 hours of Moab last Fall - they've been excellent. Super Lightweight, great unobstructed field of vision, and the lenses can be switched out in a matter of seconds. While they fit my Med-Large face very well, my girlfriend also wears them sometimes loves how they fit. I would highly recommend the V90 Max for riding trails or road, Smith nailed it here.

Kaenon Lewi one of my favorites

Kaenon Lewi Sunglasses - Polarized

Kaenon Lewi Sunglasses - Polarized

Rating for this product: 4 May 26, 2010

I've had my Kaenon Lewi sunglasses for about a year now, and they still are great. For my med-wide face, they fit well - a nice fit without feeling too tight. I got the Tobacco C12 (the "C" stands for Copper Tint) and I'd say that's Kaenon's most versatile lens - they do well on bright days and are perfect for partly cloudy days because the copper lens really brings out the colors, helping brighten things up a bit. While the Lewi frames are solid and sturdy, they are not heavy glasses. They are more lifestyle-oriented, but I would recommend them for everything except the most bumpy activities

Kaenon Klay Great New Addition

Kaenon Klay Sunglasses - Polarized

Kaenon Klay Sunglasses - Polarized

Rating for this product: 5 May 26, 2010

I got my Kaenon Klay shades last month and they're exactly what I was looking for in terms of Fit, Style and Lens tint/clarity. I got the Matte Black G12 and really like the dark lenses (the "G" stands for Grey) and the matte finish - they have a cool, low key look to them. The G12 lens excels in bright sun. For my med-large face, the Klay is an even better fit and noticeably lighter than my previous Kaenons, the Lewi. I highly recommend these to anyone looking for a high-quality sunglass that can go anywhere and do anything.

ContourHD Vented Helmet Mount is Awesome

Contour Vented Helmet Camcorder Mount

Contour Vented Helmet Camcorder Mount

Rating for this product: 5 April 13, 2010

I've been using the ContourHD this season and loving it. I'm stoked on the Vented Helmet Mount - it is easy to adjust, transfer between helmets and super steady. I've used it on my Giro Seam, Smith Variant Brim, Giro Remedy and Giro Hex so far and it works great on all of them. I'd say it's a key accessory for anyone using the ContourHD and/or ContourHD 1080p.

Oakley Radar XL Sunglasses

March 3, 2010

Hi Carlos,

The main difference between the Radar Range and Radar XL is the height of the lens - the Radar XL is 7 millimeters taller than the Radar Range. Both glasses are the same width, and do accommodate wide faces well. So, if you want some extra lens coverage I would go with the XL - if you were more concerned with the sunglasses fitting a wider face, either one would be a good choice.

You've got a few options for mounting your ContourHD on your Variant Brim other than the goggle strap mount. Since the Variant Brim has so many vents, I like using the ContourHD Vented Helmet Mount (to find it search VHR0006). You can use it to mount on top of your helmet, just turn the lens 90 degrees so it frames your vid properly.

Rating for this product: 5 February 15, 2010

I got the MHW Bazuka Gloves earlier this season, and I've been really impressed with their comfort, warmth and dexterity. From skiing to snowblowing the driveway, the Bazuka is quickly becoming my favorite glove. With OutDry waterproofing, goatskin leather and a very comfortable wool insulation layer, the Bazuka is great out of the box and has proven to be very durable without feeling bulky or overbuilt. Giro Seam Excellent Adjustable Fit

Giro Seam Helmet

Rating for this product: 4 November 21, 2009

Just got my Giro Seam Helmet - it fits great and integrates perfectly with my Giro Basis goggles. I wasn't exactly sure what size to get at first, then I realized that my mountain bike helmets are both Giro, size Large - I got the Seam in size Large and it is just right. Stoked on the Skullcandy/Giro Audio Drops.

I also noticed that there is a cool, unmarked feature in the back of the Giro Seam helmet that makes it even more comfortable - the fit dial strap can actually be moved up or down to ensure that when you tighten down the dial, it hits the back of your head in just the right spot. Just look at the inside of your helmet where the fit dial strap connects to it - back/center, just above the dial (see attached photo). You will notice that there are different holes that the strap can connect to - just pop it out of the holes that it is currently in and click it back into the helmet where you like it. By moving the strap down towards your neck, you will raise the brim of the helmet (good for anyone wearing larger goggles). If you move the strap up towards the top of your head, the brim will come down on your forehead.

For my Hestra Gloves, I always apply after leaving the gloves near a heater in my house for a little while to make sure that they are warm/room temperature, but not too hot. I usually re-apply the leather balm and/or waterproofing 1/2 way through the season to keep the leather in good shape.

Rating for this product: 5 October 12, 2009

I used the Smith PIVLock v90 Sunglasses for the first time this weekend during the 24 Hours of Moab bike race and they were excellent. The PIVLocks are super light - probably the lightest shades I've worn - and the frameless design provides a great field of view as well as plenty of protection from sun and dust. Bridgedale X-Hale Cool Lo Sock - Perfect for Mountain Biking

Bridgedale Cool Lo Sock

Bridgedale Cool Lo Sock

Rating for this product: 5 September 8, 2009

The Bridgedale X-Hale Cool Lo Sock has quickly become my favorite sock to wear for mountain biking because of it's lightweight yet comfortable cushion, great breathability, and the way that it stays in place just above the top of my shoes. In my experience, many ankle socks tend to slip down below the top of my shoes during rides. Not only is it annoying to have a bunched up sock in your shoe, it's a quick way to get a blister, and that's no good. After wearing these Bridgedale X-Hale Cool Lo Socks for the last couple months, I'm still impressed with the way they stay in place - this sock fits my foot like a glove - I wear a size 12 shoe and size Large Bridgedale sock. Highly recommended.

V.I.O. POV 1.5 Camera

September 8, 2009

(Here it is, directly from Ian at V.I.O)

The differences between the POV.1 and the POV 1.5: The POV 1.5 is an upgraded version of the POV.1. All accessories, cameras heads, mounts, and SD cards that work on the POV.1 will work on the POV 1.5 and vice versa. Below are three major changes: - The POV 1.5 has the v1.3 firmware already installed (the 8GB SDHC firmware) - The POV 1.5 comes with the orange "tethered" camera head. The permanently attached AV cable reduces cable/pin damage cause by improper head connections. This camera head works with the POV.1 as well as the POV 1.5, and has the same field of view and resolution as that of the POV.1 Wide Angle camera head. - Different mounts come with the POV 1.5: Star Mount and the Double Hook and Loop Mount. Please note that mounts can be purchased separately of a POV.1 or POV 1.5. The only exceptions are the mounts in the POV Mount Kit.

GU Chomps Energy Chews - Work Great, Taste Even Better

GU Chomps Energy Chews 16-Pack

GU Chomps Energy Chews 16-Pack

Rating for this product: 5 September 7, 2009

The GU Chomps Energy Chews are my new favorite snack for mountain biking, hiking, and even for a little boost of energy during a summer concert. That's right, during my mountain bike trip through the Northwest this summer, I stopped at the Gorge in WA for two Phish concerts - I had a case of Pomegranate GU Chomps in the car, so I threw a few packages in my pockets before the first show. Sure enough, the Chomps were a hit with everyone and I had none left by end of the night!

For those of us who don't like traditional energy goo packets, GU Chomps are a great option. They're packed with enough flavor to make even the driest mouth water - a huge plus on those hot, dusty days - and deliver the same amount of energy as traditional goo packets. They have become so popular this summer that stores can barely order them fast enough - if you see that they are currently sold out, don't worry, the stock will be replenished within a couple days!

Kaenon Gauge Sunglasses - Polarized

Rating for this product: 5 June 18, 2009

The second I put on my Kaenon Gauge sunglasses, I immediately was transported into another world; a world where everything looked clearer and more vibrant that it had before, glasses or not. In all seriousness, the Gauge glasses provide the most optical clarity I have ever experienced. I have what I would consider a rather large face, and these fit great - a bit tight at first, and after a couple days, they felt perfectly snug and secure. I have worn these crusing around on my bike, at the beach, driving... well, pretty much everywhere and they continue to impress me and anyone else who tries them on. Not only do they perform well, they look good too. As an added bonus they come with a super sturdy case and nice lens cleaner/bag. Definitely a 5 of 5 in my book.

Hestra Vertical Cut Freeride Glove DO NOT USE

April 2, 2009

Personally, I wear my Hestra gloves without any liners - the Vertical Cut gloves are warmer than they look. That said, if you would like to wear liners with these, I'd suggest a nice, thin liner like the Icebreaker Glove Liner (ICE0218) - we will be getting more in Aug/Sept. Your Hestra's sound like they are the right fit, especially after they pack out during some spring skiing! Enjoy

Icebreaker Hike Mid Crew Sock - Men's

March 31, 2009

There are a number of aspects of the physical and chemical structure of Merino that make it naturally more resistant to odors than other textiles, especially synthetics.

Moisture Transport - While sweat itself has no odor, if it remains on the skin in time bacteria develop and create unpleasant body odors. Merino reduces the opportunity for odors to generate because it is more efficient than other textiles at absorbing sweat and evaporating it into the air.

No Microbial attraction - Studies have shown that bacteria are more attracted to the smooth, positively charged surface of a synthetic fiber than the scaly surface of a Merino fiber which carries no charge.

Moisture Absorption - The Merino has a much greater capacity than other fibers to absorb moisture. In fact, it can absorb 35% of its own weight in liquid. The moisture is bound within the structure, and so is not available to microbes, which are unable to penetrate the scaly surface of the fiber.

Glass Transition - In water and conditions of high humidity, Merino passes through what is termed a glass transition at which point it dramatically increases its rate of absorption and dispersion.

Trapping Odors - The rate of diffusion of small and large molecules into the fiber increases and it is able to absorb odors faster. When the temperature drops, and the fiber once again falls below the glass transition, the odors are trapped within the structure even if the moisture evaporates. Later, during laundering, the garment again passes through the glass transition point and the odors are carried out of the structure by the water. Synthetics are not able to benefit from this same effect because they do not pass through glass transition during normal wear.

Patagonia Footwear Huckleberry Approach Shoe - Men's

March 16, 2009

I bought these shoes aroung Thanksgiving 2008. I have a similar size foot as you and bought the 11.5. They fit perfect. I also have a narrow foot and they fit snug, not uncomfortable, just the opposite. I am a carpenter and wear these shoes 6 days a week and my feet never hurt. These shoes replaced my $150.00 Red Wing work boots, which are very comfortable and supportive shoes. I would not hesitate to buy these again. They seem to be wearing fine...I do not do any hiking, etc. But they get a pretty good workout on the jobsite.**I definitely agree with the advice above - I wear a 12 in Nike and New Balance, and the 11.5 fits perfectly. I actually ordered both the 11.5 and the 12 just to make sure, and the 12 felt slightly large. Wearing the 11.5 right now and am very happy.

Hestra Heli Glove

March 11, 2009

The leather will repel water and dirt, but like any product, use over time can make things dirty. The link below is Hestra's care advice website:www.hestragloves.com/www/live/hestragloves/HGStandardGrey.aspx?TreeID=27James is correct here - the white leather will show some signs of wear; however, I think that the white leather may even look better once it's been nicely broken-in! Of course, any normal wear or minor discoloration (minor, because the white leather actually stays much whiter than one would expect) will not have a negative impact on the gloves' performance.

These are my #1 Goggles

Oakley Crowbar Goggle

Oakley Crowbar Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 March 4, 2009

The Oakley Crowbars have been my number one goggle for this season as well as last season. Whether I'm skiing at Alta/Bird or sledding in the Backcountry, the Crowbars have provided me with great optical clarity and comfort. I'm not someone who strictly wears Oakley either - I love my Smith's too. That said, I would compare the Oakley Crowbar to the Smith Prodigy in size/fit and comfort. For those bright, bluebird days, the Fire lense is perfect...better than most sunglasses if you as me. For grey days and/or flat light, I switch out the fire and go with one of the H.I. lenses (H.I. = High Intensity), as they brighten things up.

Volkl Gotama Alpine Ski

November 18, 2008

These would work ok as a powder ski, But in my opinion if you are adding to a quiver and looking for a ski to just ski powder I would go with something a lot wider then the gotama, there is so many fat pow skis that would give you that floaty - surfey feel .. such as hellbents in 189 -- moment komi's -- armada arg -- pontoons -- line prophet 130 -- volkl kantana -- liberty double helix -- rossie S6.. I would look for skis with at least 115mm in the waist and go from there. AS for bindings for your weight you will need a 14 din + binding look - rossie px14, 15 or 18, salomon sth 14 or 16 marker jester is another option. For your weight I think you would be better off with a wider ski than the gotamaWillie is right on point - if you have a quiver, there is no need to get the Gotamas - I have them and love them, don't get me wrong... I use them as my everyday skis! For a full-blown powder ski, you'll be stoked on a super-wide setup...the ARGs are my weapons of choice at Alta when the going gets good, and if I were going to get another pair to replace the ARGs, I would get the Volkl Kuro or the Black Diamond Megawatts. They are a bit stiffer than the Hellbents, and I think you'll really appreciate the extra heft. Have a great winter!

The Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Sleeping Pad is the most comfortable sleeping pad I have ever used! It might take a couple extra breaths to inflate; however, it is well worth the effort. Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Sleeping Pad - Rectangular

August 24, 2008

I was wondering the same thing when I bought mine. After using the Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Sleeping Pad for summer camping in Moab, Ut multiple times, I am psyched! I think the insulation really helps keep your body at a good temperature - but it doesn't generate any noticeable heat from what I can tell. It is great in all temperatures based on my experience - just used it for two nights in Jackson Hole this weekend, and had no comfort or warmth issues - a good thing, considering there was a frost on Friday night!

The North Face Moraine 23 Bx Tent is the first tent I've ever owned and I have been psyched ever since it arrived at my house. The Moraine 3-person is a nice, durable tent that is easy to setup and break down. My new Favorite Bike Shorts

Fox Mid Ranger Bike Short - Men's

Fox Mid Ranger Bike Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 June 12, 2008

I'll admit, I got these shorts because I have never been let down by Fox Racing, the price was right and I liked the Ash color. When the shorts came, I was very impressed, as they were better than I even hoped they would be. The material is nice and light without feeling or being fragile - no problem in 90F... and when I took my first big digger, they showed no signs of damage at all. The fit is true to size around the waist, and the cut is generous; there's plenty of room for movement freeriding, yet they won't get in your way while banging out a long xc ride. Plenty of pockets for iPod, Wallet, Etc. Comfortable enough to wear around long after the ride has finished. Definitely recommended for anyone looking for a do-it-all bike short.

Fox High Frequency Bike Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 June 12, 2008

The Fox Racing High Frequency Bike Shorts are the highest quality shorts I've owned. Yes, there are cheaper shorts out there; however, I found that by spending a few more dollars, I got a much better (trim) fit from the High Frequency bike shorts than other shorts I've had in the past. The fit is key for me when I'm considering bike shorts with built-in chamois liner... when the cut is right (as it is in the H.F.) the chamois is very comfortable and protective on long rides. They are cut longer to keep them from riding up, but I wouldn't call them baggy, especially compared to Fox Racing's Mid-Ranger shorts. I have worn them on all types of mtb rides and am still pumped that I made the choice to spend a couple extra dollars.

Patagonia El Cap Pants - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 8, 2007

That's right, my new El Cap pants are now my go-to pants for almost any situation. With a slightly athletic fit, useful pockets, zippered fly, and elastic waist, these pants are rarely left in a pile in the corner of my room. Make no mistake fellas, these pants are not tights! Without elastic cuffs around the ankles, these pants can be worn around town doing errands, taking the dog for a walk, or just hanging out at home- roll up the cuffs once, pull your ski/snowboard pants over them, and you will be comfortable and warm out on the slopes when the temperature drops! The Large size fits me quite well- I wear size 34/32 in regular slacks. I was curious about how these would fit before I ordered them- I didn't want fleece pants that fit like tights. As soon as I put them on, I knew I had made the right choice- I highly recommend these pants for anyone looking for a new pair of extremely versatile, casual pants! It's a no-brainer if you ask me!

Rating for this product: 5 January 8, 2007

Just got my Down Patrol in time for the first big storm of the 06/07 winter, and I am loving it! Unlike many other down jackets out there, Cloudveil's Down Patrol blurs the line between form and function. With easy to reach pit-zips, a removable hood and powderskirt, an internal media pocket, and Gore-Tex Windstopper protecting your frontside from cold gusts, this jacket has all the necessary bells & whistles to keep you stoked this winter! Best part is, the Down Patrol looks good too- it is water resistant and warm, but not bulky (read: you won't look or feel like the Michelin Man). I find myself ignoring my other winter jackets now that I have my new Cloudveil- the simple fact is, I just have no use for them! Thank you guys and Cloudveil, this is no doubt my best purchase yet. While my old work gloves worked alright for a while out on the slopes, these are a huge upgrade without looking too technical- not to mention they cost less (I think I would be hard-pressed to find another glove for this price that performed as well). I am an experienced online shopper and I haven't found a better website to buy all the great gear I need- chalk this purchase up as another excellent shopping experience with this company! Thanks y'all, keep Rocking!

SmartWool Ultra Light Skiing Sock

SmartWool Ultra Light Skiing Sock

Rating for this product: 5 January 8, 2007

Don't let the name fool you- Ultra Light does not equate to cold feet!!! As someone who has had trouble with cold feet while skiing, I can recommend these socks with confidence! These socks actually have caused my ski boots to feel and fit better than they ever had- I think this may be because there is no extra/unnecessary material to bunch up and irritate my foot. Even though these socks are not thick, they are warm- no problems skiing Jackson Hole in -10 F weather. The kicker is, after wearing these socks for 20 ski-days without washing them, they still didn't smell... try wearing capilene socks for 5 days without washing them, and you'll probably need to put a clothespin on your nose- oh, the magic of wool! Less laundry=more time outside on the slopes, so if that sounds good to you too, get some Smartwool Skiing socks and reap the many rewards of your sub-$20 purchase.
