  • Stomping Grounds:

North East baby... Rocky, rooty, muddy, wet, cold, hot crazy singletrack. MTB at it's best!
  • Bio:

I like to mountain bike, hike, fish, swim, trail run, and catch small frogs for dinner.

In my spare time I also like to star-gaze and reminisce about the time I was abducted by aliens and used as an extraterrestrial experiment.

Light & Motion Helmet Bike Light Mount

November 6, 2008

Personally, I think the Vega is too heavy for a helmet mount. That said, this mount looks very different than the Vega mount, I'm not sure it would even be compatible.

Yes, just make sure you have Shimano centerlock hubs. I use them on a set of Avid mechanicals.

Shimano America Brake Cable Sets

October 31, 2008

If you have v-brakes or mechanical disks, then these will work fine. If you have hydraulic disks, then you need hydraulic cables and fluid.

Great Vest

Pearl Izumi Zephyrr Cycling Vest - Men's

Pearl Izumi Zephyrr Cycling Vest - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 21, 2008

I would buy this vest again, it's light-weight, yet durable and wind proof. I keep some gel packs in the upper pocket. The fit and finish is very good. In 40-50 degree weather, I ride with this vest and a mid-weight jersey underneath and it's a nice combination.

The Gold Standard

CamelBak M.U.L.E. Hydration Pack -3L

CamelBak M.U.L.E. Hydration Pack -3L

Rating for this product: 5 October 21, 2008

I think as everyone else's reviews pretty much say the MULE is the gold standard of MTB packs. Plenty of room for the essentials, yet rugged with good air circulation.

If it gets dirty, sweaty, and smelly just throw it in the washing machine and it will come out good as new.

Adidas adiStar Tech Cycling Short - Men's

October 20, 2008

I love Pearl Izumi but I also have a couple of Adidas shirts and shorts and they are great quality. Never had a problem with stitching or zippers. Back Country has an unlimited lifetime warranty so you've got nothing to lose.

Hutchinson Piranha Air Light Tubeless MBT - DO NOT USE!!

October 15, 2008

There are a lot of factors to consider here; mainly tire size and what you need it to do (x-country, downhill, etc.).I suggest you take a look at http://www.zinio.com/gncissue?is=280132649&ns=usa where they test 127 different tires and give their weights. That said, don't worry about tire weight it's too stressful. Just skip dessert one night and you'll save the same amount of weight.

Shimano America XTR Hydraulic Disc-Brake - Calipers

October 7, 2008

They will work with newer XT hydraulic levers. You have to check Shimano's website though as they made some changes a few years ago. I do not think the early hydraulics (XT or XTR) are compatible with the newer calipers.

Very Nice Jersey

Pearl Izumi Slice Cycling Jersey - Men's

Pearl Izumi Slice Cycling Jersey - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 September 26, 2008

Love the full-zip, and it's very well made. The only thing holding me back from giving it 5 stars is the pockets are a little hard to reach, they seem very tight.

But overall I'd recommend and would buy it again.
