90% Rope bag ...

Outdoor Research Index Rope Bag

Outdoor Research Index Rope Bag

Rating for this product: 4 January 25, 2007

This bag has little ability to be anything but a rope bag. I can hook all my sport climbing gear to the chain on the front of the bag. The main compartment mainly functions as only a rope bag - you might be able to roll some draws up in with the rope, but the design of the bag allows little of anything other than the rope, however, I did buy this for my rope, so I am very pleased with it. The straps could use a bit more padding, but this is an overall great rope bag. Caution though, the tarp is attached to the bag on one side, so when using your rope, the bag will sit on the ground. But as I said, if you buy this for a rope bag, you will be pleased.

Amazing quickdraws for sport climbing

Black Diamond Positron Quickdraw

Black Diamond Positron Quickdraw

Rating for this product: 5 January 3, 2007

There is a rubber insert on the rope end of these quickdraws. This allows for easier clipping when it matters. The other end is lose which allows the user to pull the quickdraw closer for yet even easier clipping. These are amazing quickdraws for sport climbing, I've taken many falls on them and will not be using a different kind anytime soon. If you have the money to get these over cheaper ones, you will be happy.

I was pleased with the ATC-XP

Black Diamond ATC-XP

Black Diamond ATC-XP

Rating for this product: 5 December 12, 2006

I have used a few different belay devices, but I enjoy this one the most. It has low friction until you put it in the break position and requires minimal tension to remain in the break position. My partner has taken some hefty whippers and this stops any extra slack being fed to him.

What an amazing harness!

Arc'teryx Vapor Harness - Men's

Arc'teryx Vapor Harness - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 11, 2006

I have worn some of my buddies harnesses and they have worn mine. Everyone always ends up being jealous at how comfortable this thing is. The weight distribution is perfect. I've taken a few nice whippers, and it always amazes me at how little I notice the harness, especially when I compare it to others. It also seems to be extremely durable. I have rubbed it on the walls at my local gym several times, and the harness is showing no wear. Go ahead and save yourself some pain and be the envy of your buds with this completely comfortable harness; It's worth the extra money. If you try it on and you didn’t get it, be prepared to be. spending the money for it soon, because you will like it.

I'm not disappointed at all...

Black Diamond Forearm Trainer

Black Diamond Forearm Trainer

Rating for this product: 4 December 8, 2006

I didn't expect much with this costing so little. The rubber smell discussed previously is kind of annoying. It smells like fresh tennis balls to me. I can feel it targeting the muscles I use to grip holds. I can see how it might cause problems for smaller hands, it is quite larger than I expected, but I'm really liking it after a little while of using it.

I have no complaints with this...

Black Diamond Rocklock Screwgate Carabiner

Black Diamond Rocklock Screwgate Carabiner

Rating for this product: 5 December 4, 2006

It simply works. It is easy to screw and unscrew. I use this with an ATC-XP and both work well together. It is large so it's easy to slip into the harness and everything.

Flash Shoes

Mad Rock Flash Climbing Shoe - Men's

Mad Rock Flash Climbing Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 November 20, 2006

These shoes work well for a first set of shoes. I would get them a full size down if I could have a "do over" but the 1/2 size down is okay, they are just getting a bit lose. These feel similar to 5-10 ascents, but are a bit easier on the budget. Decent shoes.
