Stoic Luft Down Sweater - Men's

November 27, 2011

No prob, Jamie. You're kind of right--higher down fill number means better insulation, because it's fluffier. But the amount of down, by weight, is a good way to compare items of similar fill power. There are other factors that will impact warmth--like how it is quilted, baffle design, etc.

Mountain Hardwear Nitrous Down Jacket - Men's

Yep, thanks. If so, that's pretty impressive. The Patagonia Sweater Jacket only has 3 oz. I was about to buy Patagonia, but this looks like a better option.

Stoic Luft Down Sweater - Men's

Regarding my question on how much down: 750 is the down fill power, which is the down quality, not the amount. How much down (quantity) is in the jacket? This is measured by weight--either grams or ounces.

Patagonia Down Sweater Jacket - Men's

November 25, 2011

I've seen a lot of this on Backcountry lately--an ad gives a price (OK, maybe "starting at") but in reality that price only applies to a small portion of the selection--like the Teal XXL at $130 and the other 30 size/color options at $200. I think this is deceitful and, for me, erodes my trust in Backcountry.com.

Patagonia Down Sweater Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 1 October 19, 2011

So Backcountry.com advertises these down sweaters as "starting at $120" but it turns out only two of the 32 color/size options (both XL's) are $120--the rest are $200. Bad form.
