This years shoguns are exactly the same as last year. I guess the only question is what color you like better.

Salomon Shogun Ski
October 10, 2011
The Shogun will is much better for trees. It is very poppy and fun to ski. It also is pretty tough and busts through crud and bumps pretty well. The sentinel would be a better ski for ripping groomers. If you are trying to get away from racing style skis you might as well go all the way. Get the Shoguns.

MSR Evo Ascent Snowshoe
April 14, 2011
I have strapped them to the back of my Osprey Atmos as well as an old Camelbak Snobound. I would pick something that has some external straps as they are pretty large and the traction rails could do a number on your pack. It is much easier to strap them to the outside of your pack

Oakley Kitchen Sink Backpack - 2074cu in
February 13, 2011
According to Oakley the dimensions are 14" H x 20" W x 8" D which are inside the generally allowable 14x22x9 requirements. Some smaller planes have different requirements but you should be fine 99% of the time.

No, the design of the ski is symmetrical, so as far as the performance of the ski goes there is no right and left ski. The only difference is the graphics

MSR Evo Ascent Snowshoe
February 9, 2011
These were designed to be used on hills. I recently did an ascent and decent of Mt Washington on them and had no problems with my feet being out of place, though when i started my decent I had to tighten the straps once to keep my feet in place.

These should work great. I am 200 without gear and they keep me afloat without the tails in all but the freshest lightest snow.

I can also testify. I used them to hike up to Tukerman's Ravine last winter. I weigh 200 plus my gear and they were solid the whole way.

Go with the mediums, the large would be much too big. The purpose is to have a tight fit to promote blood flow.

It is a play on the lord collecting taxes. It is a place where you put valuables or money. Nothing to do with the ski, everything to do with the name.

Salomon XT Wings 2 Trail Running Shoe - Men's
January 3, 2011
I just got a pair and I found the size to be about 1/2 size small. I tried them on side by side with the XA Pros and found the sizing to be about 1/2 size different.
As far as running on the road, you would be fine, but the soft rubber soles would take some unnecessary wear.

Oakley Crowbar Goggle
January 2, 2011
If you already have a pair of goggles that work well for sunny days I would get a second pair that is specific for low light/night skiing. The best lens for that would be the High Intensity Yellow lens. They allow 81% of the available light through. I have a pair and use them every day in the east and all but the bright days out west.

CamelBak Omega HydroTanium Hydration Reservoir
January 2, 2011
Brandon,
It does a decent job stopping leaks but like most bladders I have used it is not 100%. If you are looking for something completely leak-proof I would look for something with a shutoff valve, or just stick with Nalgenes.

Mountain Hardwear WindStopper Tech Vest - Men's
December 16, 2010
It depends where you are running and how warm you get. This vest is super warm. I run warm and would overheat on trails above 40 degrees. If you have trouble staying warm this would be perfect. It fits close to the body and does not inhibit movement. I wear it more frequently for hiking and as a mid layer for skiing. All that said this is an awesome vest so I guess it comes down to temperature and personal preference.

Superfeet Trim-To-Fit Green Insole
December 15, 2010
I have very flat feet and I use the blues in all of my hiking shoes. They fit perfectly and need very little break in time. I bout a pair of the greens once, but I couldn't make it through the break in period.

Asolo TPS 520 GV Boot - Men's
December 7, 2010
If there is water leaking through the boot it means there must be a hole in the Gore-Tex insert that is in the boot. If the Nikwax didn't work you may want to try something more intense such as sno-seal. I would be sure that I expired my options with Nikwax first because Sno-seal is nothing but beeswax and it may make the boots less breathable.

Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra Trail Running Shoe - Men's
December 7, 2010
These shoes may not be the best bet as the soles are fairly soft. I have had good luck with the Montrail Hardrock trail runners, not the mid hikers, tho I don't believe they are available on backcountry right now.

DAKINE Fall Line Double Ski Bag

If you are talking about cross country boots that you shouldn't have any problem fitting them into the pockets on the outside. If you are talking about alpine boots you may have to buy it a size too long and fit them into the main compartment.

Thule Peloton Bike Mount
November 8, 2010
This rack is only designed to fit on square cross bars. Most factory racks have some flattened oval shaped cross bars. Thule makes an adapter called the ride on to convert from this shape to square. Then the racks will fit.

Laken Prisma Bottle w/Screw Top - 1L

The mouth is wide enough to see down to the bottom of the bottle easily. Though I had some issues after less than a year with the internal coating of this bottle developing some pitting. Good news, I guess is that I could see it.

Asolo TPS 520 GV Boot - Men's
November 6, 2010
No they are not. You could use a strap on type such as Petzl Irvis 10-Point Crampon, but if you are looking to do some really serious mountaineering then you may want to look elsewhere. Otherwise these boots are relatively warm for an uninsulated boot and plenty stiff to use for most outdoor activities.

Patagonia Stretch Ascent Jacket - Men's
November 5, 2010
The fit is pretty standard in the chest and arms. It narrows quite a bit in the waist. If you are not wearing a tremendous amount of insulation I would probably stick with the medium. I am 5'9" 210 and wear a sweater underneath.

Thule Short Roof Adapter-DO NOT USE
October 29, 2010
There is an option for a cars that already have a factory rack. I have a 2008 Subaru Forester and have had similar problems. Thule makes a product called the Ride on Adapter, 532. It does the job, although I think they could have made a simpler system, that is what they have. Design aside it is a really easy system to use.
