4FRNT Skis CRJ Ski

February 24, 2011

Hey man, I ended up getting the 164cm CRJ (see my questions below) since the 4frnt factory was sold out of the 174 length. I usually ski 160-165cm in a full camber ski and these skis DEFINITELY ski short because of the short effective edge. As with most rockered skis, going a size longer than what you normally ride is usually the best choice (I made a mistake not to wait and do that). Looking back, I wish I had gone longer, but I loooove these skis and use them everyday that I'm not skiing park. Super nimble in the trees, really poppy, lightweight, soft tip/tail with medium flex under foot to keep you felling stable at speed, float great in powder, and I even have fun carving on hardpack with them.

These are completely different skis than the EHP. THe EHP is a charger ski and from what you described, the CRJ might treat you better. The newer models have a stiffer tail too so they're more stable at speed, which is the only issue I have with mine (party due to being too short). Occasionally when I'm skiing hard/fast, I feel like I could use a little more ski but 90% of the time, they're the most fun I've ever had on a ski.

4FRNT Skis CRJ Ski

January 17, 2010

Thanks Wizo.

To straighten things out, I love my Guns but they're my touring set-up and I want a fatter, powder oriented ski. These CRJs will be my powder/crud skis. I like to go fast and charge but I also like to make quick, short playful turn in the pow and through the trees. Hopefully the 172's won't be too hard for me to make those short, playful turns.

4FRNT Skis CRJ Ski

January 16, 2010

I'm real featherweight but I ski hard.

I'm 5'2" 107 should I go for the 164 or the 172?

Right now I'm on 164 Salomon Guns if that helps.
