First of all, I wouldn't recommend buying a men's because it's designed for men and has a different fit than the women's does. It's boxier with broader shoulders, etc. Secondly, if you're set on buying the "DENALI" and only the "DENALI," which I couldn't understand, then get a men's MED.

That's not really a question. But in the case that your question was, "Is this garment quick-drying," the answer is that it naturally wicks the moisture off of your body and then keeps your warm even if it is wet & cold, but wool is not as quick-drying as synthetic materials.

Most of the nylon rain jackets are meant for easy on/off and are quite lightweight. They are designed (mostly) for easily throwing them on and taking them off easily over you outer layer (particularly in 3-season situations. If zip-in compatibility is a MUST, look more in the gore-tex TNF shells. There are more 3-in-1 zip-in's there for layerability, warmth, breathability, and versatility for unpredictable weather.

I am 5"10 and 160 lbs. I bought the Ladies XL and wore it for while. I found it to be tight in the shoulders, the waist was good but it seemed like it had a larger bottom for hips. The jacket never fit me right. I am wide shouldered and do not have hips. I ended up selling my ladies XL on e-bay and just bought a mens medium. It seems to give me more room in the shoulders, waist was good and no hips in the jacket! The only thing I do not like about it are the pit zippers. Other than that, I think it is a keeper. Light weight and warm. Oconomowoc, WIIf you're just "a little big in the waist" still go with the women's. If you have broader shoulders and more of a men's frame, go with the men's. Otherwsie, a women's would be better.

Uhmm....yes. : ) It is a man-made fabric but it's somewhere between cotton and silk as far as feeling. It's slightly stretchy and not at all itchy. I would call it less fibrous than a wool or cotton though. It's very comfortable and quite "sporty." I (and my wife) have several layers of capilene (but I think I now prefer the wool baselayers a little more: either by Patagonia or Icebreaker.) They are more natural and I like the way they feel a little more.

Sounds like borderline M/L. Depends on how you'll be using it and what you'll have beneath. For casual pursuits or with several layers beneath, go with the large. If it's for outdoor use or you plan to just go with a tee beneath, go with the large.

This is far more meant to be a layering piece than outerwear. It's a lighter fleece than the Denali and it's by NO means wind proof. Also, the Denali will be a bit more resistant to everyday wear and tear.On the other hand, you WON'T see 31 high school girls, 14 jr high boys, and 3 dogs wearing THIS jacket too every time you put it on, like you will with the Denali.

Nick, You're right. This jacket is by NO means a rain shell. However, the nylon in the jacket comes treated with DWR (your "water repellent spray"), so it should be ok when you get caught unexpectedly. Therefore, it would also be recommended to reapply DWR every year or so, just to be safe.

This would be an ok jacket, but it's by no means "hardcore," which would definitely describe Chi-Town's winters. You might want to look more into gore-tex shells: Mountain Light Parka, Statosphere, or the Heathen jacket. You're going to dish out more, but it will be well worth it with weatherability & breathability (and the Mountain Light Parka is 29" instead of 26" (all of the others including this one.)

The thermal is an alternative design with a higher loft fleece while the regular Denali is what you typically think of when you think of fleece. The thermal is a little shaggier, a little shinier, and packs down smaller for the trail. If you're wanting it for the trails, I'd go with the thermal. If you're wanting it for your teenage daughter who asked for a Denali jacket, get the regular; you don't want her to be mocked for not having the same as everyone else.

They are form-fitting (snug) by design and feel different than a cheap, typical, foam flip-flop. In general, if you usually wear just a 13 with room and no complaints, then get a 13, but if you have several 13.5's (if they even make half sizes that large), or your 13's seem snug, then go up. They will break-in (stretch) a little with wear as well.

Define "you." If you're talking about Patagonia, then the answer is "no." They make capilene, and wool thermal underwear. Both are vastly superior to cotton in regards to heat/cool regulation, moisture, durability, and odor. If by "you" you're asking whether or not the site carries cotton long undies, then the answer is--I think--"no." Almost all long underwear bottoms are wool or a polyester of some sort for the reasons previously stated.

Nope. Just black. But the gripper gloves come in powder blue & red, and the stormtracker gloves come in crimson if that helps.

This is a very soft top. I use it for evening bike rides or early morning skates. It keeps the wind out very well and me warm.

On mine, I wouldn't call it "plastic looking." I would say more of a "flexible rubbery" substance. (And it's a model to model thing.) I most definitely wouldn't call this a deal-breaker either. This is a great shirt in so many aspects!

Many of the Denali Jackets are made in El Salvador, but I don't know that this is the case for all of them or not.http://www.nlcnet.org/article.php?id=560

Not zip in compatible. If you are looking for one that is, I'd recommend just getting the Redpoint (non-hybrid). It is and it's a great layering jacket or standalone jacket.

Most TNF shells are designed to work with other layers. The Denali jacket is zip-in compatible, as is this jacket. However, this jacket is already a 3-in-1, but I imagine that zipping the Denali inside this shell would make it one toasty waterproof jacket.

The S.D. Drizone booties (waterproof ones w/rubber sole) are 3.045 oz each, so I would guess that these are probably 1-2oz each since they don't have the 700 fill or the rubber soles. However, that's just my guess.

You might try the Suunto Lumi Terra. It's got many of the same functions (and a few extras), but it's a specifically women's watch in design.

A Steripen purifies water but does not filter it. Filtering gets the grit and dirt chunks out of the water, and can be accomplished by using a cloth or fine mesh screen over your water bottle. You wouldn't neccesarily need a Katadyn filter, and it's a lot easier to port around a small cloth.By flashing the SteriPen for 90 seconds in a 1L bottle, you kill 99.9999% of all the bacteria and other nasties that are in your water. Seems a little hocus-pocusy? There's scientific proof (link below). I've used my SteriPen for quite some time now and absolutely love it. It's quick, light, and there's no taste in my water but water itself.http://steripen.com/testing.html_____________________

After reading the other product descriptions on this page, I was convinced to order one size smaller than I normally wear. I am 5'3, 115lbs, and usually wear a size Small. I bought the nuptse vest in size X-Small and it fits perfectly; also, the fit allows for both layering or not layering. If I had bought my normal size, it would've been too big. Absolutely LOVE this vest!_______________________________________________________

It's warm, but in the snow? Seriously? Why are you out in the snow with only a t-shirt? Are you just outside, like sledding, or making snow angels? This guy is really warm, but it's a jacket, not a coat. I'd definitely recommend at least 1 warm long sleeve layer underneath. (Not to mention that it's not meant for precipitation.)

Like all Sierra Designs tents, the Sirius 3 is very stable. The "swift clips" & open pole design allow excellent air flow between body & fly. Older pole sleeve designs could dam air, restricting flow resulting in more movement in high winds.I've had mine out with 25+ mph gusts and rain, and as long as you set it up facing the right way, there is absolutely NO leaking and the thing is waaaay sturdy.

So....what's the difference between this jacket & the Marmot Ion? (I can read, so obviously one has a hood and one doesn't; one has a front pocket and one a rear; etc.) But why have 2 wind shirt/jackets that are so similar? Am I missing something here?

The Apex Bionic is a softshell with a "spongy" exterior material and fleece lining. It can be layered, but it doesn't zip in (connect to) other NF waterproof hardshell layers. It's also a bit more weatherproof. The RedPoint is truly better for layer and on the trail. It's got a nylon exterior and is slightly stuffed. It compresses down smaller (into its own pocket), and can snap into a hardshell (creating a 3-in-1).

I'm going back and forth between this and the Montbell Ultralight. The MB packs down to nothing and weighs a scant 6oz, but I wonder if it sacrifices warmth. Do we know how small this guy compresses? And surely it comes with a stuff sac right? -thanks
