Arc'teryx Bora 80 Backpack - 4390-5000cu in

March 1, 2012

I agree with Mike. The osprey Bladder has a frame, which is meant to rest along your spine. This does two things: it keeps the weight of the water next to your back, as well as gives the bladder shape so you don't get a funky shaped bladder weighing you down. Also, it has a magnetic clip feature that is super nice. I have the 2L and the 3L, but I rarely use the 2L. I find it to be too small. Here is the link so you can check it out yourself: http://www.backcountry.com/osprey-packs-hydraform-hydration-reservoir Hope that helps!! Good luck and be safe out there!

Cute and Warm

DAKINE Camino Mitten - Women's

DAKINE Camino Mitten - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 January 12, 2012

I bought these mittens for my Girlfriend; they keep her hands toasty warm!! She is learning to board and hasn't complained since we got em'. I went to the retail store and looked at the colors, the two black glove look a little cheap with the way the material was finished. I ended up buying the purple ones; they have bigger threading for the exterior which you can't really see in the picture. They are great gloves and look great if you don't mind the purple ones be sure to get them, you won't regret it. Hope this helps and enjoy the mittens!!

Great Fit

Columbia Benton Springs Hooded Fleece Jacket - Women's

Columbia Benton Springs Hooded Fleece Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 January 12, 2012

I bought this fleece for my girlfriend who is 5' even and 98lbs the Extra Small fit her perfectly. The hood is nice and can be sucked down to keep her face warm. We enjoy going on walks in UT mid winter and she just plops this one with a windbreak and is sweating in 30 degree weather. Columbia is a great brand for the price and I highly recommend this fleece for insulation. The only bad thing is the color selection :(. Hope this helps and enjoy your fleece!

Stoic Vaporshell 3L Jacket - Women's

September 29, 2011

I own this jacket and am quite happy with it. It is a great rain jacket and I use it for my top layer when backpacking in 40+ degree weather. It would work perfectly for your application. If you do make the purchase be tender with front zipper, if you try to zip it half way up its hard to undo. Hope this helps! Have a fun time in Europe sounds like a blast!

Great Ventilation

Petzl Ecrin Roc Climbing Helmet

Petzl Ecrin Roc Climbing Helmet

Rating for this product: 4 September 27, 2011

I like the Ecrin Roc. It's keeps your head cool, safe and makes you look like you know what your doing. My biggest complaint with it would be the foam pads, they sometimes shift ever so slightly. Also the weight is higher than most of its foam counterparts. However, it blows everything out of the water when looking at the protection it gives you. Also, its adjust-ability is great. It works for sport climbing in the hottest of summer as well as ice climbing with a bean and a hood on. I would recommend the Ecrin Roc but only to those who need a helmet for multiple uses. For simple sport climbing there are other buckets that will do the trick at a lower cost. Good luck!!

Best Draw I've ever used!

CAMP USA Photon Express Nylon 11cm Quickdraw - 5-Pack

CAMP USA Photon Express Nylon 11cm Quickdraw - 5-Pack

Rating for this product: 5 September 20, 2011

At first I was a little hesitant to purchase these, because "CAMP USA" is not the best known name in the Western United States; however after doing my research and using tons of my buddies draws I decided to take a chance and purchase this set. These draws are ridiculously light (lighter than most wiregates) and the gates are soooooooooo smooth. I can't emphasize that enough: the pressure is equal no matter what position the gate is in. Also, they have bumps on the side of the gate that allow for easy cleaning when rapping. I am extremely satisfied with these draws I would recommend them to random strangers on the street!! Hope you make the purchase and enjoy them as I have.

Metolius Personal Anchor System w/out Carabiner

Rating for this product: 4 September 20, 2011

I really enjoy the personal anchor system. Though a standard daisy chain will almost always work just as well, the extra safety allows me to be less worried when I'm anchored into a wall. It's extremely light, and easy to use. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to be safe and have fun!

Snow Peak Titanium Double Wall Cup 450

September 20, 2011

You can always use titanium over a backpacking stove though it looks as though the handle will probably get hot. However, If by direct heat you mean a camp fire then I would say try not to use it. I have a lot of titanium cookware and though it will always hold up over a fire it WILL warp due to the differences in temperature on the bottom of the cup. If your just purchasing it for a light weight cup to beat up, go for it; its not going to break. Anyways, love snow peak and wish you the best of luck!

Five Ten Anasazi LV Climbing Shoe - Women's

August 2, 2011

I don't have a pair of these, but after reading your question I would recommend ordering a 7 since the shoe is so tight. Be sure to keep in mind how aggressive the shoe is. For extremely aggressive shoes, most climbers just put them on for the route/problem and then take them off. Also, the synthetic material won't stretch like leather will so the fit should be pretty good when you try them on. I know this didn't directly answer your question but figured I'd take a shot at it. Hope it helped! Happy Climbing :)

Therm-a-Rest Prolite Plus Stuff Sack

Rating for this product: 5 August 1, 2011

This stuff sack is great, the material is extremely sturdy. If your like me and do a lot of bushwhacking with an inflatable pad you know how important it is that you protect the pad from taking random pokes from branches. It seems as though many stuff sacks it's hard to get the pad inside. Here this is not the case; one good roll up and inside it goes! I would recommend this stuff sack to anyone with this pad!

It's made of durable material, has clips for your gear (lots of it), and has a little pouch the perfectly fits phones, wallets, keys or whatever else you have. Not only is it extremely nice for storage it carry's very comfortably. I would HIGHLY recommend this product, perhaps even give it 6 stars if possible. Scarpa Booster Climbing Shoe - Vibram XS Grip

Is there any Scarpa climbing shoes available for sizing in your area? I have found that many of the manufacturing use roughly the same sole size. Scarpa Booster Climbing Shoe - Vibram XS Grip

July 27, 2011

I don't have either of the shoes however have had several La Sportiva and absolutely love them. I was comparing the both and both seem like great shoes! Obviously I am bias but it looks like the solution has more rubber on the heel as well as on the toe, which means great "hooking" for overhangs. Also, I would imagine the leather would form to your foot better allowing for a more comfortable fit. Anyways, take what I say with a grain of salt; hope it helped!

If I could make any recommendation, I would absolutely 100% try on a pair of shoes before you make the purchase. My first shoes was the La Sportiva Nago; In casual shoe I wear a 9-9.5, however in the Nago I was a 7. My next pair of shoes was the La Sportiva Muira XS which I wore a 7.5. Overall I would recommend going to a local retail store and trying some on. Then coming home and making the purchase off of backcountry taking advantage of the discounts. Simply purchasing them off of the internet will most likely lead to a return.

Also, the material is comfortable and does not irritate the skin even when being worn for 4 days straight. The footprint fits perfectly and is made of a water resistant, durable material. Let's face it, if you bought the Copper Spur UL3 you spent some cash; why not protect it? The color coded clip ins make it impossible to set up incorrectly and keep it fastened securely to the rain fly. Also, it's ridiculously light weight! MSR Pocket Rocket Stove

Rating for this product: 5 July 5, 2011

This little stove is amazing! Every time I use it I am still amazing by the compactness and quality MSR packed into the little thing. I normally backpack at around 8500 ft and it boils 1100ml of water in 2 or 3 minutes. I use the IsoPro fuel and the 227g canister lasts for an incredibly long time; I'd say at least 45-55 minutes at full power. It's so small it fits in my 700ml Titanium cookset carrying case. Highly recommend this product and would argue that its the best value on the market of any manufacturer!

La Sportiva Nago Vibram XS Edge Climbing Shoe

The reservoir is well made and has a stiff construction on the backside, which allows for a very comfortable fit up against your spine. The coating on the inside prevents mild/mold growth. Wow....

Big Agnes Copper Spur UL3 Ultra Light Tent: 3-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 July 5, 2011

The tent is expensive, but you get what you pay for and more! The rain fly has reflective corners which makes it really useful if it's nighttime and it starts raining on you. Also, the vents on the fly keep a nice breeze coming through, especially when it's humid. The material's extremely strong and ridiculously lightweight. The vestibules are large enough for 90 liter packs on each side. The head room is excellent and the interior room is comfortable and would accommodate 3 people snugly. At first I was hesitant about spending the money, however, now I recommend it to family members and friends alike. I'll always go for Big Agnes!!

Good, but doesn't insulate like promised.

Overall the bottle is very light weight and does keep liquid hot or cold longer than the conventional bottle. Would recommend to a friend based on price.

Great Tit Cookware for the price

Backcountry.com Titanium Cookset - 1650ml

Backcountry.com Titanium Cookset - 1650ml

Rating for this product: 5 July 5, 2011

The cook set is well made and amazingly light. It comes in a nice black carrying case. It disperses heat about the best you can expect titanium to do. I am very pleased with the purchase considering that anything of similar quality is at least 20 dollars more. I would recommend this to anyone, as long as they understand that titanium cookware will eventually warp. Great Product! Thanks Backcountry!

Great Light weight Comfort!

Therm-a-Rest Prolite Plus Sleeping Pad

Therm-a-Rest Prolite Plus Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 4 June 27, 2011

Awesome pad, I was really impressed by the strength and durability of the material. Definitely the lightest and most insulated pad out there. If you buy it, get the stuff sack for it; I did and its fits perfectly. Also, if you're expecting it to fully self inflate you might be deceived - why I rated it 4 stars.

Good, but really cheesy!

Mountain House Lasagna with Meat Sauce - 1 Serving Entree

Mountain House Lasagna with Meat Sauce - 1 Serving Entree

The food tastes well and hides the taste of purification tablets. Only problem.... CHEESE! Be prepared for tons of cheese, not the best thing when you have limited toilet paper.....

Amazing!

Osprey Packs Aether 85 Backpack - 5000-5400 cu in

Rating for this product: 5 June 27, 2011

Love this pack. Have already recommended it to several of my friends. I would highly recommend going into an osprey retailer and getting sized. I was a medium size but needed a small waste belt, which was easily swapped out. If you get the pack, definitely get the osprey reservoir; I have three camel backs and it blows them out of the water. Get the 3 liter considering it's an 85L pack. Pack spacing is for advanced backpackers; if your frustrated with it, use it a couple times and you'll learn to love it! Also, the top of the pack comes off and becomes a sort of fanny pack/day pack. At first I thought it was useless extra weight, however after using it several times I have found it to be a great way to explore the area around the campsite. Hope you enjoy the pack!!

I would recommend the light to anyone who is looking to purchase a mid-range reliable headlamp. No issues a with the product; it's lightweight, extremely bright for not having a seperate battery pack, and durable.
