My first climbing shoe :)

La Sportiva Nago Vibram XS Edge Climbing Shoe

La Sportiva Nago Vibram XS Edge Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 4 July 15, 2011

These were my first pair of climbing shoes and I have no complaints. Laces are more of a pain to take on/off than straps, but you have more choice as to how tight you want them. For example, my foot is a bit wide so I leave the bottom half a bit looser than the top half of the laces.

I don't use them much, but they are starting to show some wear on the tip of one of the toes, but all shoes eventually do. I give them a SOLID 4 stars.

Better than nothing

Pro-tec IPS Hip Pads - Men's

Pro-tec IPS Hip Pads - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 April 4, 2011

I liked the idea of having padded shorts to protect again stupid hip bruising etc from skiing east coast snow and doing rails, so I picked these up.

I am 6', 185 lbs with very large quads (34x34 pants0 and these fit well around the waist but still have some room around the legs, so you may want to go a size smaller than you usually do.

The padding itself leaves something to be desired. After a few crashes it certainly mitigates some of the impact and may have prevented some bruises, but falling isn't painless :(

Volkl Gotama Ski

March 5, 2011

It's really what you're comfortable skiing. The longer/wider the ski, the more float you'll get in pow, but it always comes at a cost. Too long and you won't be as nimble w/ your turns. Too wide and they won't be good for much other than DEEP pow. So you if find that you can whip off turns as you like and feel you're getting the float you need, then you made the right choice. In summary, if you're having a blast on them, you made the right choice :)

Great garment

Mammut Belay Full-Zip Hoodie - Men's

Mammut Belay Full-Zip Hoodie - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 5, 2011

Just got this yesterday so I can't speak about it's durability, but this hoody is COMFY! It's a heavyweight material w/ some sort of insulation in it that makes it very warm/windproof for this type of garment. The cuffs are nice and thick, great for using it in action, and it has a double zipper on it, same as many ski/snowboard jackets. The hood fits my head really well, not all baggy like most other hoodys'.

I usually wear a large (ski jackets, t shirts etc) but ordered the XL bc I heard people had sizing issues (and it was the only size left in the blue color), and it fits me like a large, so I could recommend ordering one size up from whatever your target size is.
