Backcountry.com Dawn Patrol Vacuum Coffee Tumbler

I just bought 5 of these at $3 each. So far Im a big fan. I can tell that the good looking blue and red colors are going to get scratched to crap but they seam pretty durable otherwise. The main reason i am writing a review so soon after I bought it is to bring up something that everyone else seemed to miss or doesn't care about. The stated capacity is 12oz. and it is, so long as you leave the cap off and fill it to where surface tension keeps your liquid in. In reality, with the lid on it fits EXACTLY 10oz. Just a friendly heads up. I don't really care too much about that. at $15 for 5, i can afford to live with it.

Primus EasyLight Lantern

January 26, 2010

according to the rough math I was able to work out, the lumen output of this unit is somewhere between 800-1000 lumens. (about as bright as a propane double mantle). In your experience, would say this is is a fair comparison, this to a propane double lantern?

Marmot Cyclone Jacket - Men's

September 22, 2009

This jacket looks like it was designed for a zip in fleece or softshell, does anyone know what goes in there. I usually just layer but if I can find a good deal I will be all over it.

Black Diamond Huey Duffel Bag - 6102-9154 cu in

Black Diamond Huey Duffel Bag - 6102-9154 cu in

I got this back because I wanted a general purpose duffel for travel and organization of camping gear. I bought the large and i was little disheartened with i got it, not because it was small, because it was HUGE. frankly much bigger than one person needs. I couldn't figure out how i was going to use all the space then it struck me to use it as a cell system. My wife and i packed out own bags with cheap-o's and a third bad with gear and stuffed them all in the Huey and headed to Yellowstone. It was amazing. Easy to get at all the gear you need, easy to pack, easy to transport. I use it for all of our travel now. It weighs so little and is so tough that you can use one bag for two people even for flights, which is what we did tw months later when we went to California on a cruise. The straps make it super easy to carry, a boat lead easier than trying to wheel around luggage as you just throw on the backpack straps and put it on, its surprisingly comfortable too. Not at all difficult to carry 50 lbs worth of gear for at least an hour or more. i was little worried about how the backpack straps attached but not anymore...super strong. Bottom line is, its the only way we travel now.

Hutchinson Python Enduro MRC Tubeless Tire

Hutchinson Python Enduro MRC Tubeless Tire

Rating for this product: 5 February 13, 2009

Greatest Tire Of All Time. I am not going to mince words here, this is the only tire for the Utah Climate that I will EVER run again. I bought this tire at the beginning of the tubeless tire revolution in 2001 and i still have them. I run them on a hard tail with about 20 psi and the traction, stability, speed and confidence that this tire gives is unworldly. I worked at bike shops from 2001-2005 and tried a boat load of different tires and none compare to the confidence that this tire endows with the comfort and stability of tubless pressures. I am getting a new pair because after 8 years hard HARD abuse and many many miles they had finally succumb to rubber deterioration and sidewall weakening. (still plenty of tread wear left riding 150+ off road miles/yr) The ONLY tire i will use for a hard tail or my Blur.

Volkl Gotama Alpine Ski

Volkl Gotama Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 4 February 11, 2009

Buddha style. I have last years models and i have to say, aside from buddha transcending off the mortal plains of my ski I most impressed. I am 5'9 and 150 and I got the 183 because the 176 weren't in stock, think i could return them when they got the correct size...no need. These skiis are just right, just floaty enough (i like to punch through on big turns) and super agile for their size. I love tree skiing and these are serious confidence builders in the trees. a touch heavy for touring, but not bad, and the down is always good. wind damaged, crust, groomers, waist deep steeps? no biggie. i have flex 70 boots that i am skiing through but even then they are controllable and predictable and it is not hard to imagine what a nice 120 would do because they harbor no surprises in their handling. supremely versatile and just right size for the freeride binding, not to much flex either. demerits? the topsheet is week and gets beat up quick but the base is hard as rock...i tested. Also the buddha sitcker is almost gone after 1 season. Goats are good, bottom line.
