Stomping Grounds:
Northern Maine Woods,Adirondacks in NY -
Bio:
I am a avid long range expedition guy-Love
traveling in my expedition prepared Land Rovers- Defender and Discovery.
Ice Climbing, hiking, backpacking, scuba, and volunteer work with the Boy Scouts and Eagle Scouts.
I spend most of my time in the woods of the Paul Smith's Wilderness-I have a place in Lake Placid,so all of my outdoor activities are within 15 miles of home.
I enjoy winter more than any other time of year-hence the Arc'teryx gear. There isn't any better gear for extreme weather conditions.
I do an inordinate amount of hiking and outdoor travel in my area-and because mountain weather is so changeable, you've got to keep your gear with you at all times. All items I've reviewed have been extensively tested in very difficult conditions and in much less than ideal weather.

Arc'teryx Vertical SV Glove
November 18, 2011
I've got the Alpha SV gloves as well, and I believe without reservation, that they are the best gloves I've ever seen.I've now worn them for about 40 days total(got them last year in Jan)and they have broken in even more-if this can be believed,so now I can't even tell I'm wearing them-at all.Far and away the best gloves available for extreme cold snowsports or climbing.
In my experience with these gloves-and I use them in all sorts of conditions but all in well below freezing temps-they've become my staple go to glove.

Arc'teryx Delta AR Zip-Neck Top - Men's
June 10, 2011
I agree with Brandon about the bath mat look. This is a very thin but warm fleece that I ended up wearing over and over because of it's warmth to weight ratio.I own almost every fleece Arc'teryx makes, and aside from the Apache AR,this is my favorite for fall by itself and in the winter under my Alpha SV jacket.

SmartWool NTS Midweight 1/4-Zip Top - Men's
October 20, 2010
i find the smartwool baselayers all to fit to form, meaning they're fairly tight but not overly so.I would liken the fit to UnderArmour Fitted baselayers-not as tight as compession fit but in between.I'm a big guy,not fat, well built-6ft5-260lbs,and the xxl fits me well.

Arc'teryx Tau Pullover Fleece Jacket - Men's
March 5, 2010
This fleece is designed to fit well on active alpinists and climbers-it's not a fashion statement. If you wear a harness, you would love the room.If not, return it for a smaller size-Backcountry is awesome about returns.

Kelty Light Year Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Down
February 17, 2010
Sam,you'll be fine with a reg-you won't need a tall unless you're over 6 feet.I'm 6'4" and I can get away with a reg in some bags.
