Columbia Kaci 2 Shoe - Women's

Columbia Kaci 2 Shoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 August 5, 2009

These shoes fell 'flat' for me (pun intended). I had been looking for a shoe that would provide more arch support than the my ballet flats, but sadly, this shoe doesn't seem to do that. They are much cuter than a pair of sneakers, but for so little support it doesn't even seem worth it, I might as well stick to my ballet flats. Additionally, although the suede is super soft and seems like it won't cause blisters (which is a bonus), it doesn't breath at all. My feet were so sweaty after an hour wearing these shoes around my house that I don't feel right returning them. So I guess they'll be my rainy-day shoes, since they are fairly water-resistant.

Also, they run half a size big.

Nice fit, questionable material

Mountain Hardwear Tierra Pant - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Tierra Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 June 2, 2009

So, I guess I should have paid more attention to the description of these pants when it said "Conduit laminate" because that is exactly how they feel, as if the material has been laminated. Which is weird because the pants have a pattern which makes them look as though they should be brushed nylon. (The pattern also makes the black considerably closer to grey, so if you want true black don't get these.) But I guess that's the price you pay for totally waterproof pants, and they do fit well, which is such a relief for a petite woman who has a ton of trouble finding pants that don't make me look like a puffball (5'2", 120lbs). I haven't tried them out in the snow yet but I moved around the house quite a bit and didn't have any trouble with the waist (and you can always sew a snap to the velcro part if you find it popping open.)

Chaco Leather Flip Sandal - Women's

May 27, 2009

I have to agree with Lauren, I am a 7 in dress shoes and ordered a 7 in these chacos and they are a tiny bit big; not lengthwise so much, but my foot has too much room to move around beneath the straps. So I say do not order up.

Marmot Furnace Fleece Jacket - Women's

May 27, 2009

The fit is not boxy at all, nicely fitted like most of Marmot's stuff. However, I found that it runs a little small-- I have an XS Marmot shell and an XS Columbia softshell that fit great, but the XS in this fleece was too small. I asked about a sizing chart, but if there isn't one I would say go a size up.

Marmot Furnace Fleece Jacket - Women's

May 27, 2009

Is there a sizing chart for this? I originally ordered the XS and it turned out to be too snug to fit anything more than a long-sleeve shirt under it, but I'm not sure whether to upsize to the Small or Medium.

Weird Neck

Backcountry.com Cocona Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Women's

Backcountry.com Cocona Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 May 15, 2009

Maybe I'm proportioned strangely, but I found that they neck of this shirt seemed to be offset-- it was gapping in the back and choking me in the front. The fabric was also pretty stiff (although I suppose I should expect that from polypro, my wool is spoiling me!) All in all, not worth it for me, I'm returning them. Too bad, cause I was looking forward to the wicking!

Marmot Flashpoint Full-Zip Jacket - Women's

May 13, 2009

The description says "Zip the Flashpoint into your compatible Marmot shell jacket for an all season system that can handle tough mountain conditions," so I would assume that it is ZippIn compatible (certain shells only).

Pearl Izumi Elite Limited Edition Low Sock - Women's

Pearl Izumi Elite Limited Edition Low Sock - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 May 8, 2009

At $10/pair, I expected a little more from these socks... to be sure, the patterns are super cute, but the material feels stiff and and not very stretchy. I have yet to wear them out on a run, so perhaps they will out-shine my good old cotton socks once I do. But so far, unimpresssed.

Chaco Leather Flip Sandal - Women's

Chaco Leather Flip Sandal - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 May 5, 2009

Pros: The arch support is great, and the leather is very soft all over the shoe

Cons: The leather on the sole is so soft that I sometimes find it difficult to keep the sandals on, because my foot slides right off of them. This is exacerbated by the fact that I apparently have extremely thin feet and the straps are not tight to my feet, there's quite a bit of sliding room. (I typically wear a 7 in dress shoes and ordered a 7 in these and the length is correct).

Also, the leather on the straps is not at all supple and somehow is creating a pinch on the top of my foot with each step. I'm seriously hoping that these sandals will get more comfortable with more wear.

Actually a snowboard sock

Fox River Wick Dry Big Air Sock

Fox River Wick Dry Big Air Sock

Rating for this product: 2 May 1, 2009

These socks seem pretty soft and very cushy, but based on where the padding is, I'm pretty sure that they are meant for boarding, not skiing.
