Mountain Hardwear Downtown Down Coat - Women's

This is a beautiful coat--though I would classify it more as a sweater than a coat. Since it is not windproof, it just wasn't warm enough to be my only winter coat. If I had more $$$$ I'd have kept it because of its good looks and great fit, but alas I wanted something I could wear in frigid temps and this didn't fit the bill. The quality is what I would expect from Mountain Hardware, that is to say, excellent. The espresso color is a very attractive shade of deep brown that goes well with other colors--not reddish. I am usually a Medium and it was true to size and fit to just above the knee *I'm 5'7".

One problem

Marmot Chelsea Down Coat - Women's

Marmot Chelsea Down Coat - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 February 10, 2009

I have bought and returned 4 winter coats this year trying to find a warm, windproof, waterproof long coat. This coat met or exceeded all of my criteria AND it's good looking! The big BUT is that the velcro pulled fuzz on the coat's fabric when left open. I tried keeping it zipped up when walking through stores but almost passed out--removing it and carrying it around was cumbersome--then I thought "What am I doing?!" Marmot, did you field test this coat? Change the fabric or lose the velcro and you have a customer! Returning this coat almost brought tears to my eyes because I have been so cold! I usually wear a Medium and had to order a Large--5'7", 125 lbs--athletic shoulders.
