Decent Enough

Yakima Wheel Fork Tire Mount

Yakima Wheel Fork Tire Mount

Rating for this product: 3 June 25, 2009

I have to agree with Ekatalin, these tire mounts are not the most stable when mounted on round bars. That is because they always angle backwards no matter how tightly I screw the two clamps. This, in turn, causes them to rest against the roof of my car, which in and of itself isn't a very bad thing, but it does make me worry that a sudden and or sharp jolt will loosen the tire from the mount itself and cause my tire to go bouncing down some highway like Ekatalin's had done. So, I would recommend that anyone who purchases these tire mounts really tighten their quick release axle into/against the fork and that they check it as often as possible.

A Very Nice Piece of Equipment

Smith I/O Interchangeable Optics Spherical Series Goggles - Mirror Lens

Smith I/O Interchangeable Optics Spherical Series Goggles - Mirror Lens

Rating for this product: 5 February 17, 2009

I've been out a few times with these googles and I have to say that they met and exceeded all of my expectations. Truthfully, I wouldn't have known that I was wearing googles until small specks of powder got stuck to the lenses. Well that might be a little bit dramatic, but that's how blown away I was by not only the incredible field of view these googles provided, but also their superb glare protection and their overall comfort level.
Unlike some of the others who have reviewed this product, I had no problem with fogging due to ventilation here in Minnesota or out west in Colorado.

Solid Pants

Arc'teryx Sidewinder SV Pant - Men's

Arc'teryx Sidewinder SV Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 17, 2009

After a few trips out on the slopes these pants have proven their worth every time. Not a drop of moisture or gust of wind made it through, around, or under these pants. While the XL/Tall's did run larger through the legs than I prefer, they fit well everywhere else on my 6'4" frame.

Mixed Feelings

Arc'teryx Stinger Glove - Unisex

Arc'teryx Stinger Glove - Unisex

Rating for this product: 4 January 30, 2009

I have to say that I'm not completely sold on this glove for a couple of reasons. First, as every who has reviewed this product can agree, they run very small. I first got an XL just to play it safe because I'm 6'4" and I tend to require larger equipment, but I was astonished when I struggled to pull these gloves on. I eventually had to get the XXL gloves and they fit as they should. Secondly, I'm not to pleased with the placement of the top stitch that holds the leather upper part of the glove to the Polartec Powershield softshell bottom. I'm not pleased because the stitching runs nearly over my knuckles, which puts pressure right on the joints as I flex my hand. Lastly, I'm beginning to question the overall craftmanship with which these gloves were constructed. Nothing has fallen apart on them, but for an Arcteryx glove I was expecting something that wouldn't have tail threads popping out and also something that could keep me warmer. Now, the warmth issue might be due to the fact that it's been below zero or zero nearly everyday for the past few weeks here in MN and it's the body's natural response to shunt blood- the source of all warmth in the extremities- away from the more distal ends of anyone's body towards the core organs in such conditions.
However, I do have to say that for their size, weight, and material, the Arcteryx Stinger gloves have held up better than any other small glove I have ever owned. I haven't had any water bleed through the material or the stitches and while wearing them, I have been able to do all the things I would do with my bare hands. Also, the velcro tabs at the wrists, which I first thought weren't going to be hold up, have surpassed my expectations by stopping the gloves from bunching and by generally making the gloves more secure.

A Great Jacket

Arc'teryx Fission SV Jacket - Women's

Arc'teryx Fission SV Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 November 28, 2008

I bought this jacket as a gift for my girlfriend and she's worn it nearly nonstop- due to the Minnesota cold- and she hasn't lodged a single complaint against it yet. As the winter wears on, I'm sure she'll appreciate its high quality and durability even more.
