Lafuma Warm 'n Light 800 XL Sleeping Bag: 35 Degree Down
August 7, 2011
What is the best way to wash and care for this sleeping bag? I just returned with mine from a long backpacking trip and the bag unfortunately had to be packed next to some wet clothes. How should I best wash or keep this bag clean as a result? THanks.

Outdoor Research Durable Dry Sack
May 24, 2011
Which is the brightest colored bag? I've learned to love light colored bags because you can sort through the contents of a bright colored bag easier than in a dark colored bag. Do they only offer the bag in the dark red or dark blue colors? Thanks!

Sea To Summit eVAC Dry Sack
May 23, 2011
I'm looking for an uber tough really large dry sack to line my 35L pack. Would this product fit the bill? Any other recommendations? I am not super concerned about it being absolutely waterproof but would find that a nice perk. Is this product super durable even with the sharp corners of prepacked food?

Osprey Packs Atmos 35 Backpack - 1900-2300cu in
May 18, 2011
Ya, I just discovered this pack recently and have fallen in love with its concept. I wish Osprey hadn't discontinued it. Anyone have any suggested alternatives? I really liked the mesh back support, double gear loops, and ability to carry heavier gear. Any suggestions?

Osprey Packs Atmos 50 Backpack - 2800-3200cu in
May 18, 2011
Ya, I basically just discovered the discontinued Osprey Atmos 35 the other day and wish there was a current option just like it. I like the ability of it to carry heavier loads, the double gear loops, the more durable materials, and yet the continued use of the mesh airstream back of the Atmos. I feel like I would be compromising and being forced into buying a lesser quality pack if I purchased a Manta or Stratos series pack.
If others agree that using an Atmos 50 for a day hike doesn't seem like complete overkill and the pack can be super-tightened down for minimal gear, I may choose this over the Manta 30 or Stratos 36. I am definitely hoping to hear more response to this thread though. Thanks! (And thanks for the recommendation of Granite Gear but I really enjoy the "trampoline" suspension offered by Osprey).

Osprey Packs Manta 25 Hydration Pack - 1300-1500cu in
May 17, 2011
Osprey's website says this pack should be able to pack about 15-20 lbs. Has anyone maxed out the weight in this pack? At what weight does this pack start to suffer or the shoulder straps begin to bite? I have heard reports that claim the pack is uncomfortable over 10 pounds (which is pretty light considering the 3L of water is 6.6 lbs already).
Also, would I be able to fit a padded DSLR camera, zoom lens, rain coat and a few spare items in the main compartment? How big of a water bottle can the side pockets securely hold (500/750/1000mL)?
Thanks!

Osprey Packs Atmos 50 Backpack - 2800-3200cu in
May 17, 2011
Alright, this may be a dumb question but...
How well can this pack be compressed down for short day hikes?
I was considering the Manta series (also has the mesh suspended back) but they lack any tool attachments. Stratos series has 1 tool attachment that looks pretty small and not very useful. This pack might be overkill but if it compresses really tightly and carries well with minimal gear in the pack, I might bite the bullet and get this instead.

I'm looking for an absolute BOMBproof shell that can be very cool on hot humid days. I do field work regularly in dense undergrowth and am still trying to find the perfect jacket that keeps me as cool as possible but will also live up to tons of abuse. Any recommendations? Is this jacket good in really hot jungle-comparable weather?

How sturdy is this hammock? I was considering getting one for both my wife and I to share. Would this hammock easily accomodate 2 people reaching potential 350 pounds? Will Backcountry.com accept a return of a defective hammock in exchange for a new one?

What are the slits in the Jacket that are lateral to the Napolean pockets? Looks like there are slits in the jacket that are found on the front between the Napolean pockets and the side pit zips. What are those for?
And how well does the schoeller® C_Change® fabric resist water, stretch, and wear over abbrasions?
