Hailing from the east coast ice capades...Have been in Utah for 2 years now...About to run into my third winter...If you're looking for a place to have fun outside and don't mind cutting back on your alcohol consumption a bit(you can still drink your fill if you want to, the liquor just doesn't flow as freely out here) Utah is the place to be. Epic winters and blazing summers. Ski,snowboard, mono-board, tour, snowshoe, hike, bike, climb, camp, raft, paddle, tube, run, walk, float, bag some peaks,4X4,explore, search for lost gold mines, take your pick...Most of it is right outside your door in this state....Take your pick from the Wasatch mtn range, the La Sals, the Uintas, the wasatch, uinta or Ashley national forests….Southern Utah and it’s trippy terrain…One of the mind blowing national parks, or any of the multitudes of state parks….Not only is there too much to do in Utah itself, you’re within a days drive of places other people drive the whole way across the country to see….The only thing we don’t have is a beach :( It used to be an inland sea and theres plenty of sand though, so that kinda counts right?…..Also, plenty of lakes/reservoirs to wakeboard, paddle, etc on…..Basically if you think you shred anything and you haven’t been to Utah yet, check it out.

The North Face Pumori Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 16, 2008

This is an awesome fleece for lounging around, hiking on a crisp fall day, etc, etc., etc.. Its not a havey duty fleece and you will need to combine this with a jacket during the winter(depending on where you reside) but the North Face Pumori fleece will be a prefect cool weather choice for all your needs.

Perfect

Smith Factor D-Max Sunglasses - Polarized - Interchangeable

Smith Factor D-Max Sunglasses - Polarized - Interchangeable

Rating for this product: 5 May 12, 2008

These shades are killer for anyone with a medium to large sized face. The visual clarity is amazing, way less distortion than I'm used to. The lens coverage is a large factor in this and they also block out the wind very well. Stupid easy to change the lenses in the glasses too, takes a few seconds. If you ride a bike these will make your life a whole lot easier. Next time you find yourself on the top of some huge hill after dark just pop in your other lenses and go. No more punishing your eyes for your sunglasses' lack of multiple lenses!

Fox Attack Bike Jersey - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Fox Attack Bike Jersey - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 12, 2008

Just tore up the bobsled trail with my new attack jersey and it was well worth the cash. Made the climb from popperton all the way up dry gulch and was overdressed for the weather. This jersey kept me cool in the baking sun on a long, sometimes painful, climb. The sunglass wipe is so clutch..Its on the inside of the right, front, bottom, section of the jersey and super easy to use/very effective. No scratches on my new lenses and sweat free vision all day! Sweet lookin jersey too!

Super light, easy to set up and completely weatherproof

GoLite Hex 3 Tent

GoLite Hex 3 Tent

Rating for this product: 5 June 5, 2007

If you're looking for a lightweight tent/shelter this is definitely the way to go. Very easy to set up. You stake down the 6 corners, open up the door, put the pole into place and tighten up the straps on the stakes. You can also hang it from a solid branch/anything overhead and forget about the pole all together. You'll want to buy the nest that is available for the shelter. If you purchase the floor it does not completely seal off the outside world and some bugs may get in. You can avoid this by lining the outside of the tent with rocks if you can't find the nest in stock anywhere. There is plenty of room for 2 people with the pole, 3 would be a bit cramped. Without the pole you won't have a problem fitting 3 people in there. The hex shape of the tent holds up extremely well in high winds and I sat through a heavy rainstorm without any leakage. Overall I'm extremely happy with this tent and recommend it to anyone who wants a lightweight backpacking shelter that is simple to set up and performs as well as a tent twice it's weight.

By far the best bang for your buck

Petzl Tactikka Plus Headlamp

Petzl Tactikka Plus Headlamp

Rating for this product: 5 June 5, 2007

This headlamp is perfect if you don't need the brightest one in the world. For camping/hiking/climbing its perfect. While it may not be the brightest headlamp out there I find it more than adequate for all my needs. The red lens flips up very easily and is an option that I feel all headlamps should be required to have. You just don't need the regular light option in most situations and it is very annoying when someone blinds me with their white light while I'm trying to maintain my night vision. The battery pack issue others complain about is not an issue if you put the batteries in correctly. They aren't the easiest to put in but you just have to make sure everything is clipped in and your batteries will not fall out. It might take you a minute or so to put them in correctly, a very small price to pay considering the great functionality of this headlamp.

Great bag

Big Agnes Crystal Sleeping Bag: 30 Degree PrimaLoft/Down

Big Agnes Crystal Sleeping Bag: 30 Degree PrimaLoft/Down

Rating for this product: 5 June 5, 2007

This is an incredible bag for the price. The mix of down and primaloft keeps you warm, dries out quickly, and gives you that comfort of down loft that other synthetic bags lack. The outer shell is very durable and stands up to a ton of abuse. You'll definitely need to get a pad for this one. Big agnes doesn't insulate the bottom of their bags because they have a sleeve for a pad to go there. They do this because insulation on the bottom of a bag is severely reduced when you lay on top of it and really isn't necessary. You also can't roll off your sleeping pad which is the biggest pro in my book. I would recommend the Big agnes insulated REM pad. This adds insulation the bottom of the bag and insures that the cold ground won't get to you.

Love the ventilation

KEEN Arroyo II Hiking Shoe - Men's

KEEN Arroyo II Hiking Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 27, 2007

These shoes are great for hiking in warm weather, the ventilation is just amazing. It also helps when you have to pass through bodies of water, they dry out super fast. Very comfortable shoes, I wear them around town just as much as I hike in them. If they get too grungy you can just throw them in the washing machine, they are machine washable! Make sure to air dry them though, definitely don't want them in the dryer. Oh yeah, I would recommend going down a half size on these. I'm normally an 11.5 on the nose and an 11 would be perfect. You will not be disappointed in these as a hiking or casual shoe.

Sick Casual From Vasque

Vasque Townie Shoe - Men's

Vasque Townie Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 27, 2007

Wasn't sure what to expect when I picked these up. I got the deep lichen color, it's always hit or miss with color patterns like that and this was definitely a hit. They're super comfortable and look great. The vibram soles have great grip too. By far one of the top five most comfortable casual shoes I've ever owned.

Great Shades

Spy Espada Polarized Sunglasses

Spy Espada Polarized Sunglasses

Rating for this product: 5 April 27, 2007

I've always been a big fan of the style and fit of Spy's glasses and these are no exception. These are very comfortable glasses that stay in place when you need them too. They'd be great for running, biking, etc. They have a really nice matte black finish and the hinges are a gunmetal grey and not a chrome, light in the picture is a bit misleading. The polarized lenses are great while driving or on the water. If you like catching glare in your eyes definitely don't get the polarized lenses but if you don't like those stabbing rays of light these are the ticket.

Kelty Sunshade - Medium

Kelty Sunshade - Medium

Rating for this product: 5 April 20, 2007

This shade was extremely easy to set up and take down. Will only take about 5 minutes either way. Does a great job of blocking out the sun and rain. Had this set up in about 20-30 mph winds and it looked like it wanted to go once or twice but didn't pull out, only had 3 stakes down instead of the 6 that it comes with. If you're going to get into some serious wind you'll want to use all the stakes. No complaints. Very high quality and easy to use shelter.

Sick boot

Salomon Malamute Snowboard Boot

Salomon Malamute Snowboard Boot

Rating for this product: 5 December 7, 2006

Have had the malamutes for the past 3 seasons now. Sick freeride boots, boot won't lose any of its stiffness, and super comfortable with the custom fit liners. Lacing system is very easy to use, and the tread on the boot makes them great for hiking up that gnarly ice covered boot pack. Only complaint is they don't interface right with my Burton C60s and I have to get a different boot, if that weren't the case I wouldn't look anywhere else for a really responsive/comfy freeride boot.

Burton Baron ES Snowboard - Wide

Burton Baron ES Snowboard - Wide

Rating for this product: 5 December 7, 2006

Just got the 164 and I don't think I'll ever be happy on another board. Insanely fast board, killer pop, and burly stainless steel edges keep you in control down the most bumpy/icy groomers you can find. Had it out in the pow for a day or two, waitin for another storm, and it handled like a dream. Couldn't be happier with this setup, def try and go with the C60s if you can afford them, they're worth it. Its hand made too!

BUTTERS!

Giro Tune-Ups II and Cellular Link

Giro Tune-Ups II and Cellular Link

Rating for this product: 5 December 4, 2006

So nice not having my ear buds getting shoved into my brain anymore. Sound on these is great. Wore them on a pow day or two already, got everything nice and wet, including my cell phone, and they were still rockin out. Main thing I was worried about too, these things hold up great when they get wet and the cell phone link is real easy to use. Just press a button when a call is coming in, music will cut out and you just talk through a mic in the volume adjuster, real simple. Def worth the money.
