We bought these backs because we have twins and I didn't want to spend more than $300 on packs for them. They seemed to enjoy themselves when we've used them for hiking. They are very secure in there and I think they like the view. The packs are comfortable for the most part although I am still trying to find the right adjustments for mine. On our last hike I came home with really sore/brusied hips. Overall I like this product but if you can afford it I would go with one of the newer models. Oh, and this model is not hydration pack friendly, as some other website have said (not backcountry, they wouldn't do that) :).

They are a little on the small size, so if you tend to be inbetween sizes, go up.
