Hey I actually spent a month living on top of Mt Kinabalu last april. I think the The North Face Swift Hybrid Jacket would be a good jacket if you are planning on a fast climb and descent in good conditions. In general though I would recommend the a waterproof lightwieght shell like the Venture or Triumph and a TKA underlayer so you are more prepared for the afternoon torrential rain storms. Hope this helps!

This is in a totally different category than the redpoint... since the redpoint is a puffy jacket with primaloft insulation it is for sure warmer, more wind & water resistant. Comfort is a personal thing, but I also choose the redpoint for this because of the lighter silky feel. Don't get me wrong I like the Sentinal, it will be more durable if you are scraping up against rocks all the time and still need a warm windproof layer. As far a size, I think you could go medium if you are only wearing a light layer underneath, but large if you are wearing a big hoodie or something.. hope this helps!

yeah, its a hyvent nylon twill..... I've seen this thing at a TNF sales meeting, its pretty stylish.. As much as I love gore-tex, i've had hyvent perform just as well in super wet conditions, especially in colder conditions like this piece is designed for. This is wind and water-proof... If you are looking for just wind check out the TNF Hydrogen which is just a super light wind-layer you can stuff in your pocket and bust out when it gets windy. The advantage of this over the waterproof layers is a bit more breathability and a lighter less crinkly feel.

It is fairly thin, so that you still have freedom of movement.
This piece is similar wamrth to the "redpoint" and is also waterproof. I love this jacket one of best puffies in the line.
TNF does not have "comfort ratings" for jackets like sleeping bags but I would be comfy in this to 0 degrees F if I had a layer or two underneath..
