Reasonable Bear Vault

Bear Vault BV450 Solo Bear Resistant Food Canister

Like most bear vaults, this one worked just fine in the high country. But like most bear vaults, it doesn't fit very well in a backpack. Someone ought to design a vault that packs well inside or even outside a modern backpack. My only major gripe with this product is that it's very difficult to open without a metal lever of some sort--a spork works fine, for instance. Very tough on the fingers to open without that lever. But considering most vaults also require a metal tool to open, I guess this is wash in the long run.

Great little tent

Big Agnes Seedhouse SL1 Super Light Tent: 1-Person 3-Season

Thought this was going to be too small, but it worked out just great. Extremely light and easy to pack/unpack--it went up in just a few minutes--no problem. The rain fly actually adds a couple of feet of "porch" space in front to put boots, day pack, etc. Held up just fine in the rain. Best purchase I've made all summer.

Fantastic Mattress!

Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad

Well worth the price and size. I used self-inflating mats until this summer--never again. This is without a doubt the best sleep mat I've ever used. Slept like a log. I'm average height and weight (5'10" & 170 lbs) and the 70" mat was perfect. My brother, who's taller and heavier, used the longer mat and loved it. Sure, you have to blow it up--takes but a couple of minutes. Big deal. The results are well worth the effort. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
