  • Bio:

Born and raised in the flat lands of KS I learned at a very young age that cow tipping gets boring. So I started running, camping, backpacking, along with river fishing. Oh and played baseball for 12+ years.

I'd skied here and there till I moved to UT...and well the "here and there" changed to a lot.

I have a sharp eye for photography and will always have my "big gun" when I'm out hiking.

I can grow a mean mustache all though I don't for political reasons.

I heart pizza, mexican food, bake potatoes and salads.

Rid The Stink

Stoic Merino 150 Crew - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Stoic Merino 150 Crew - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 16, 2010

My old base layer had to be put out to pasture for many reasons, but the main was it just wasn't wicking the sweat / smell anymore. Years of touring, trail running and hiking have lead me to find a great base layer that's fit able, thin and in all warm without the stink.

This one does the trick. I'm 5'11" weighing 160 with the medium fitting perfect.

Rippin Ski

Black Diamond Verdict Ski

Black Diamond Verdict Ski

Rating for this product: 4 October 27, 2010

I've been riding this ski for a few seasons now and can say it's a ripper. I hop skip between touring / resort and can say these sticks take a beating. Passionately I hunt for powder in multiple terrains but if absolutely necessary hit the groomers. Overall it handles extremely well in tight situations, BC powder, corn snow and icy goodness. I'm 5'11" and rock the 180.

Durable Shoe

La Sportiva Fireblade Trail Running Shoe - Men's

La Sportiva Fireblade Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 August 23, 2010

This shoe is made for runner's with a narrow foot. It solved my forever long venture to find the perfect running shoe. Put multiple pairs through 3 Wasatch Backs, 1/2 Marathons, Hikes and Canyoneering.

Only issue I ever have is about 100 miles or so the shoe strings give out. So if you don't mind replacing your good to go.

Wind Chap no more

Marmot Alpinist Pant - Men's

Marmot Alpinist Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 15, 2010

I'm 5'11" and 160 lbs. I recommend going a size up (so I bought large) if you want extra room for touring and being flexible. Most importantly, make sure you want a 3/4 pant with suspenders. I purposely bought these because of that aspect and was tired of wind chap on my back when touring in the element.

Blazin on the skin track

Black Diamond Factor Alpine Touring Boot - Men's

Black Diamond Factor Alpine Touring Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 August 13, 2010

I rocked these boots through Spring 09 and can say their ideal for touring and resort alike. Currently combined with the BD Fritschi Med and BD 180 Verdict (perfect for zipping around in the BC with friends). Pretty light with durable buckles as well.

Depending on your foot structure I'd recommend getting the liner molded. Outta the box pretty great, but getting customization will make your life way easier on the skin track.

Perfect touring bottle

Backcountry.com Klean Kanteen Powder-Coated Bottle - 40oz

Backcountry.com Klean Kanteen Powder-Coated Bottle - 40oz

Rating for this product: 5 February 12, 2010

This is a great bottle to tour with or heck even chill by the hot tube. I use to always have a frozen hydration line and had to hound P Haney for water or eat snow (which freezes your gum BTW). It's perfect for day trips and won't leak all over the inside of your backpack.

Great powder coat finish with nice contrasting Backcountry.com logo.
