Bomber Jacket

Arc'teryx Beta SL Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Beta SL Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 June 10, 2010

The Arc’teryx Beta SL is a sick jacket for sure. Works well as a rain Jacket in the Spring/Fall. Also makes a great “touring in a storm” type of Jacket. I highly recommend this jacket for anyone who finds themselves in wet/warm soggy conditions.

Sick Beacon For Sure

Pieps DSP Smart Transmitter

Pieps DSP Smart Transmitter

Rating for this product: 5 February 12, 2010

The Pieps DSP Smart Transmitter is a sick beacon for sure. All the other reviews are spot-on. Really easy to use. Super long range. And amazingly cuts out the flux line. Haven’t played much with the multiple burial feature, however did turn it on at Alf’s and flagged the three closest transmitions w/o even getting out of my chair. Not a good test, but a great example of how powerful & easy this beacon is to use. If you can afford it, I highly recommend it. The only thing I didn’t like is the harness that comes with it. The DSP is kind of tricky to get in and out of the pocket and the zipper broke on day 1. You’d think Pieps would provide better harness considering how bad-ass the beacon is. Anyway, I’d suggest using a different harness if you got an old one lying around or use a custom one like Andrew mentioned.

DAKINE Concourse Double Ski Bag

DAKINE Concourse Double Ski Bag

Rating for this product: 5 November 24, 2008

I originally purchased this bag with the intentions of purchasing another one for my wife after deciding whether or not I liked it. So once I got it, I started loading it up to see how much crap I could fit in it. Tally so far: 2 pairs of fat skis, 2 pairs of ski boots, 2 helmets, 2 ski jackets, 2 pairs of ski pants, 2 pairs of goggles, 2 pairs of gloves and a bunch of other shit. I guess I won't be needing to purchase another one. I highly recommend the Dakine Concourse Double Ski Bag!

Needless to say, I won't be purchasing another zin

Sick Jacket but didn't like the collar and hood

Arc'teryx Stinger Jacket - Men's DO NOT USE

Arc'teryx Stinger Jacket - Men's DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 5 November 24, 2008

I gave this jacket 5 stars because it truly is a sick jacket. However I didn't like the stowable hood system. It made the collar really rigid. I also didn't particularly like the height of the collar. If you need a jacket of this caliber, I would recommend the Sidewinder SV over the Stinger. One thing to consider when ordering Arc'Teryx Tech Shells, these jackets really fit true to size. Don't make the mistake I made by ordering a size up to accommodate layering. I'm 5'7", weigh 140 pounds and medium was way too big.

I call it "Super Shirt"

Icebreaker SuperFine 200 Hopper T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Icebreaker SuperFine 200 Hopper T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 26, 2008

My girlfriend is definitely sick of hearing the angels sing every time I pull this shirt out of my drawer. The most comfortable shirt I've ever owned. Paid full price (at the time around $70) and didn't regret it even for a second. I am a huge proponent of Merino wool and own several different Merino wool products. Icebreaker Merino wool is definitely the best quality. Very stylish too. So quit complaining about how expensive Icebreaker costs and see for yourself.

Sierra Designs Alpha 3 Convertible Tent 3-Person 4-Season

Rating for this product: 5 September 26, 2008

I can't say enough how much I love this tent. I'm not really into winter camping, but wanted a tent versatile enough to keep us warm and dry during the cold shoulder season's and cool enough on those hot summer days. This tent does it all. Sometimes we pitch the fly and the footprint only. Amazing Tent! You really can't go wrong with Sierra Designs, especially the Alpha 3.

Too wide for my feet

Merrell Chameleon Wrap Gore-Tex Hiking Shoe - Men's

Merrell Chameleon Wrap Gore-Tex Hiking Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 September 26, 2008

Of course width never came to mind while I was trying these shoes on. And because I'm totally impulsive, I purchased them and now I partially regret it. I love that they're waterproof (Gore-tex liner in the shoe) and great for scrambling and/or easy climbing. But my foot slides around in them like no other. Also, because they don't breath as well as a normal shoe, they're pretty toasty. You're feet will stay dry (provided you're standing in a 1.5" deep puddle) but will be sweaty. All in all I like the shoes, just too wide. Hope that helps.

Great features, but...

Highgear Axis Watch

Highgear Axis Watch

Rating for this product: 2 August 18, 2008

This watch has some really great features, such as air temp, compass, altimeter, etc... It shows you clouds when air pressure is dropping and a sunshine when air pressure is rising. It can even show you a profile of your elevation gain and decent (which was my favorite feature). Maybe it was just a string of bad luck or maybe I was too hard on it, but my first Axis' backlight quit working and my second Axis' alarm quit working (two very important features for what I was doing at the time). I finally made the switch to a different brand (which feature-wise I like less but has been tickin' away for the last couple of years). Anyway, if you're considering this watch you might read other reviews of Highgear's watches. If you purchase the Axis, calibrate before every adventure and remember to take it off for a few minutes to get an accurate temp reading.

My Vector has gone through the wash!

Suunto Vector Altimeter Watch

Suunto Vector Altimeter Watch

Rating for this product: 5 August 18, 2008

Not literally, but I've warn it while paddling and getting worked in big, cold class 5 whitewater (I attach it to my PFD) and everything still works perfect! After 2 years the watch is finally telling me that the battery needs to be replaced, but that's been going on now for a couple of months. The logo has warn off, but who cares about that sh!t anyway! Bottom-line, these watches are durable and accurate. Remember to calibrate before any serious adventure and take it off for a few minutes if you want an accurate temp reading.

Good bike sock

Backcountry.com Cocona Trail Sock - 3 Pair

Backcountry.com Cocona Trail Sock - 3 Pair

Rating for this product: 4 August 15, 2008

I have hiked and biked with the Cocona trail sock with no problems what so ever. I gave a pair to my girlfriend and she complained that they're hot, but she complains about everything (I think it's her bike shoes that are hot). Anyway, I love these socks. Great things is they're fairly inexpensive plus backcountry's return policy is the best in the industry. If you're concerned about the Cocona material, try backcountry's merino wool sock.

ZOIC Future Bike Short - Men's

ZOIC Future Bike Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 15, 2008

Zoic's Future Short is the perfect short for those who love to mountain bike with style. The material is dope, the colors are simple, and the different pockets come in really handy. Also, you can pull out the Chamois for hang'n at the brewery after an epic ride. Definitely Zoic's best mountain bike short. I highly recommend this product.

Sidi Bullet 2 Bike Shoe - Men's

Sidi Bullet 2 Bike Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 7, 2008

I was torn on getting these or the Dominators. It took about 3 months to make the decision. What really hit me in the head was when my good friend mentioned a lower-end shoe by Sidi is still better than anything else out there. And it's true. I've also heard of these shoes lasting like 10 years or something.

Mountain Khakis Alpine Utility Pant - Men's

Mountain Khakis Alpine Utility Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 25, 2008

It's almost as if Mountain Khaki picked apart their main competitor and designed their pant according to what their competitor's was lacking. Soft off the start, better fit, diamond shaped crotch so no ripping there, reinforced rear and knees, and a couple of extra pockets. What I like best is that the 32X30 is on the short side. I don't have to roll them or didn't have to have them hemmed (unlike every other pair of pants I've ever owned). I use them for work and cool weather hiking. I've even climbed in them! Try 'em out and see how versatile they are!

A MTB must have

CamelBak Havoc Hydration Pack - 3L

CamelBak Havoc Hydration Pack - 3L

Rating for this product: 5 July 25, 2008

If you're like me and don't ride without the essentials, this is the perfect pack. Tools, tubes, camera, and trail maps all fit with ease plus there's room for a lunch and a light jacket. The pic makes the pack look bigger than it really is, so don't worry about (see dimensions below in the Q&A). The area that rests on your back has vents which allow air to circulate between the pack and your jersey. And it really works too.

The most affordable Merino Wool

Backcountry.com Merino Crew Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Backcountry.com Merino Crew Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 25, 2008

Merino Wool is the only wool I can wear. The problem is it's so damn expensive. Once I found out backcountry had an affordable Merino line I became hooked. Everything you've heard about merino is true, especially the claims that merino is odor-free. These shirts are stylish too. I wore mine on a date after biking 16 miles in it. The fabric is very durable as well.

Pretty much the most stylist shirt I've ever worn

Arbor Evergreen Shirt - Short Sleeve - Men's

Arbor Evergreen Shirt - Short Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 14, 2008

Arbor is such a sick company they can even f!*k up clothing. Take this shirt for example. It's got a western fling that says in a soft, slow, whispery, female voice "you're so cool." And it's true. Put on this shirt and prepare to kill it, no matter the task at hand. The pic doesn't show it, but the shirt has a little arbor tree logo embroidered in black near the bottom of the left-side.

Oh yeah, check out their longboards. They've taken that world to a whole new level

Climbing is probably the worst thing you could do to your clothes. That's where Prana comes in. These shorts are perfect for as many pitches as you could possible throw at them or just lounging around the campfire. Hell, I even wear them to work. Little short for bouldering though.

Fox Attack Bike Short - Men's

Fox Attack Bike Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 July 14, 2008

Normally I like Fox MTB apparel, but these shorts are out there. With the best intentions,Fox incorporated a thick mesh material into the lower leg portions of the short. The problems is when I put the shorts on and look down I felt like I was dressed for the local Goth club. Had fox not incorporated the mesh into these shorts I would have kept them in a heartbeat.

prAna Ally Full-Zip Sweatshirt - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 July 14, 2008

I bought this for my girl right before a trip to Moab in May. She loves it so much she's still wearing it in July. The thin material makes this a very versatile product. Use a base-layer in the cooler months or when it's warmer a tank-top will do. Once you see the detail in the embroidery you'll understand why prana's gotta charge a little more. Worth every penny!

Sigg Lifestyle Screw Top Water Bottle - 0.6L

Rating for this product: 5 July 14, 2008

This is like my 5th Sigg bottle. My others are the bigger ones (1 Liter I think). I needed something smaller for work and this works perfect. I can even put in my back pocket if I need to. The designs are pretty fn cool too. Mine has a dragon and a tiger in sort of a yin-yang pattern with a samurai in the background. The really cool thing about Sigg is their graphics keep changing. If you're lucky, you might find one as cool as mine. But I doubt it though.

Rating for this product: 5 July 14, 2008

My girlfriend is always complaining about how I never buy her clothes. Then I just happen to come across this shirt on another website. So I checked to see if this site carried it and sure enough, they did. I ordered the China Blue (isn't that a dead song?) and I gotta say, she looks hot in it. What really sold me on this item is the embroidery work on the lower left sleeve that you can't see in this site's pic. Enjoy!

This site really hit the nail on the head with their Merino line. For those who love base layers, long-sleeve T's, being warm, being stylish, feel'n good, and most importantly for those of you who itch like mad when wearing wool like I do, this is one of this site's many options for you. Wear it in the yurt, under your bike jersey, downtown, or to bed. Amazingly priced for Merino! Hopefully this site will keep expanding their Merino line.
