Sturdy boot

La Sportiva Glacier Mountaineering Boot - Men's

La Sportiva Glacier Mountaineering Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 29, 2008

A very rugged and sturdy boot. Still in the breaking in process, so I cannot give a detailed review on this product yet; however, the construction and materials seem to be quality. I have replaced the insoles which give better arch support, but one should probably do this anyway, for most boots. I definitely like the shoestring versatility when cinching down the boots. It allows room and snug fit where you need it. All in all a great boot! Great price! Thanks again backcountry.com! I am looking forward to my first muliple day/mile hike with these boots. They are waterproof also (goretex), but you might want to supplement that with some nikwax or similar.

Best quality for the money

Osprey Packs Aether 70 Backpack- 4000-4400cu in

Osprey Packs Aether 70 Backpack- 4000-4400cu in

Rating for this product: 5 November 26, 2008

Superb value! This pack will not disappoint you. It packs very well and secures your items well, with the exception of accessing your water bottles on the side pockets. Other than that, you can't beat it for the money. Personally, I would probably consider the Osprey 85 just because I have no where to put my bear canister for multi-day trips, but it will attach with additional straps, so that still works. Anyway, it is a very durable pack for the money. I highly recommend it!!

The North Face Kanga Lumbar Pack - 430cu in

November 8, 2008

I'm not sure. It does not come with any bottles, just the pack. I purchased two camelback 21oz bottles and they work great.

A very durable boot

La Sportiva Trango Trek GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

La Sportiva Trango Trek GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 8, 2008

I have put many miles on these boots, and in many types of terrain. They are the most comfortable, waterproof, durable, all purpose boot that I use; and I have worn many. I am currently on my second pair of Sportiva TT boots and I love them, although I cannot expertly comment on their effectiveness in the snow, at least for long distance. They lace up well, fit snug, and feel comfortable in the width, and I don't have narrow feet. My toes have adequate wiggle room, and don't suffer fatigue at the end of heavy strenuous hike. Make sure you know your foot size, wear proper socks, and you shouldn't have a problem, especially if you are a three season hiker.

I interchange this with my cold gear and these are awesome crews! They keep you dry, comfortable, cool/warm (depending on how you dress) in most hiking conditions. Will add more to my collection. Good prices too. Way to go backcountry!
