GSI Outdoor Salt & Pepper Shaker

GSI Outdoor Salt & Pepper Shaker

Rating for this product: 5 July 5, 2007

Great product. The salt and pepper stay in the container, not on the lid. I've got one for camping, now I need one for the ice chest/lunch box. It also pours really well for those that don't like to shake the salt for 5 minutes to get salt on their food.

Great mutli-use

GSI Outdoor Telescoping Spoon

GSI Outdoor Telescoping Spoon

Rating for this product: 5 July 5, 2007

The side of this spoon has measurements in ounces, and the spoon holds 1/2 cup, so it works great to measure water for hot chocolate or dehydrated meals. The plastic does get soft when it's warm, but it does not melt. Great compact storage and easy clean-up.

Spill-proof and all

CamelBak Better Bottle .50L Water Bottle

CamelBak Better Bottle .50L Water Bottle

Rating for this product: 5 July 5, 2007

This water bottle is nice. The hook is great for attaching to the chest strap of our Kelty Kid carrier (or a backpack). Also fits well into a bike water bottle holder.

A little tight

Backcountry.com The Goat Organic Cotton T-Shirt Long-Sleeve - Women's

Backcountry.com The Goat Organic Cotton T-Shirt Long-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 July 5, 2007

The sleeves are a little tight on this shirt. I bought a medium (I wear a small to medium) in tan and it fit okay, but not quite how I would have liked it to fit. I also was not thrilled with the color, I thought it would be more of a cream, but it definitely is a tan color. It is warm enough for summer camping when you want just a little extra warmth in the morning.

Fast boiling time

Jetboil Group Cooking System with 1.5 Liter Cooking Pot

Jetboil Group Cooking System with 1.5 Liter Cooking Pot

Rating for this product: 5 July 5, 2007

Boils water in a couple of minutes, which is great. Fast, easy set-up. It works well for 1-2 person cooking or boiling water. Tried to make pancakes though, and could only make one at a time. Works well with regular pans too. It is silly that it has a plastic lid though, if you snap it on you can't check on the food/water. We turned it upside-down and that worked well.

Jetboil Group Cooking System with 1.5 Liter Cooking Pot

We forgot eating utensils, but that's okay. This meal is so thick you can eat it with fingers. Not a favorite of ours.

Glad it's compatible

Jetboil Group Cooking System with 1.5 Liter Cooking Pot

Jetboil Group Cooking System with 1.5 Liter Cooking Pot

Rating for this product: 4 July 5, 2007

Works well with the Jetboil cooking system. It doesn't pull from the bottom of the canister though. We were able to make dinner at night and pancakes the next morning, but after that the fuel was pretty much gone.

A very handy first aid kit that is ready to go when we are. We leave it in the back of our kid carrier backpack and is just perfect for little scrapes and cuts.

Kinesys SPF 30 Sunscreen Spray 4oz - Kids'

Rating for this product: 3 June 20, 2007

The spray works well at covering, but the lotion feels sticky until it dries. My kids did not like the feel of the spray, but they also like not having sunburns.

Pretty good

ALPS Mountaineering Cyclone Compression Sack

ALPS Mountaineering Cyclone Compression Sack

Rating for this product: 5 June 20, 2007

This bag works fairly well. You can't stuff as much in it as you can the top compressed bags, but it keeps the bag narrow, instead of a ball like the top compression sacks. Works well inside a backpack when you want to stuff something next to it. It all depends on what you need it for.

Great

ALPS Mountaineering Compression Sack

ALPS Mountaineering Compression Sack

Rating for this product: 5 June 20, 2007

We have 2 large sleeping bags that always take up a lot of space. We were able to put both inside this bag and it takes up less space than one sleeping bag on its own. It makes a ball shape that can be difficult to put into a backpack, depending on how much you stuff it. Definitely a good buy.

Nice Toy

Brunton Atmospheric Data Center Summit

Brunton Atmospheric Data Center Summit

Rating for this product: 4 June 5, 2007

Great as a multi-function tool. Test water temperature before diving in, speed of rapids or wind, get the temperature or know your altitude. The altitude does not always seem precise, but close enough for what we need.

Optimus Nova Plus Stove

Optimus Nova Plus Stove

Rating for this product: 1 June 5, 2007

Not at all impressed with this stove. We had a hard time getting it to work at first, and it blew out after we had our pan on it. We were glad we brought our old stove as a backup.

Platypus Platy Bottle DO NOT USE

Platypus Platy Bottle DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 4 June 5, 2007

This bottle is very light weight and great for packing in our 72-hour emergency kit. The first gulp is usually of air, but the pull top is very convenient. It is not compatible with the platypus hydration pack this site sells, unfortunately.

Adventure Medical Ben's Deet 30 Tick & Insect Repellent

Adventure Medical Ben's Deet 30 Tick & Insect Repellent

Rating for this product: 3 June 5, 2007

This bug spray is a pump, not aerosol, which is nice, but unfortunately it doesn't cover well. It feels like a lotion, which my family did not like. But we did not get bitten, so that's a plus.

GSI Outdoor Deluxe Kitchen CG Set - 11 pc

GSI Outdoor Deluxe Kitchen CG Set - 11 pc

Rating for this product: 5 June 5, 2007

Love it. The spoon has measurements in OZ on the side for convienience and is the perfect size for scooping portions. The salt and pepper shakers don't leak when they get turned upside-down. It is missing a few things, like scissors and a knife, but there is room to add small things. The camp towel even works as a potholder.

How did we survive hiking before?

Kelty Tour Kid Carrier

Kelty Tour Kid Carrier

Rating for this product: 5 May 23, 2007

The Kelty Tour Kid Carrier is a necessity for hiking with young kids. We have 4 boys under the age of 7 and want them to be familiar with the
outdoors. We decided to give this carrier a try. The pack was completely
adjustable for both parents (6 ft dad and 5 foot mom), comfortable for both
of us, and not back-heavy at all. The biggest test of all: our 18 month
old son loved it! If necessary we could even carry our 3 ½ year old.

Nice Bag

Big Agnes Encampment Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Polarguard Delta

Big Agnes Encampment Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Polarguard Delta

Rating for this product: 5 May 21, 2007

With the warmth and insulation of the Big Anges Encampment sleeping bag, I
was sure I was going to roast all night during our summer campout. All I
needed was a light blanket, but I decided to put the Big Anges to the test.
I was very pleasantly surprised that all I had to do was leave the bag
unzipped a little at the top and it was the perfect temperature all night.
Definitely a very comfortable sleeping bag.
