Great backpacking stove

I'm the winter mountaineering chair for the Rensselaer outing club. These things last forever. Every part can be replaced with ease if someone manages to break it. Small pretty light, works with four types of fuel and heats water fast.

Great light

Petzl Myo 3 Headlamp

Petzl Myo 3 Headlamp

Survived a 170 foot fall in the Kingston Mines. Spotlight is really bright LEDs are excellent. A little big and heavy for the light hiker but overall an extremely well built light.

Light hiking headlamp

Petzl Tikka Plus Headlamp

Petzl Tikka Plus Headlamp

Rating for this product: 4 November 20, 2006

I would recommend this for hikers. Not the brightest light in the world, takes 3 AAA batteries can be a pain for some. Really light compact comfortable fit. Just enough light to get around in the dark.

Haven't used one of these. I have a cheap EMS bag, I am the winter mountaineering chair of the Rensselaer Outing Club. I got three of these for our club. I tried it on and it was really comfy. Tons of straps have no idea what some are for. Really nice size for a couple night trip..

Denali ascent is better

MSR Denali Evo Snowshoe

MSR Denali Evo Snowshoe

Rating for this product: 3 November 20, 2006

These snowshoes are excellent same as the Denali Ascents without the "televators". However the "televators" are amazing on the Denali Ascents. If you plan on hiking any hills spend the extra money. They are short bars beneath your heel that you can pull up for hiking uphill, they are absolutely amazing. MSR beefed up the crampons on the bottom and they are tough as nails. I climbed Algonquin, Wright, and Giant Mt. in the Adirondack High peaks with the Denali Ascents. I slammed them on ice snow and rock and they look and feel brand new still.

Pretty nice

Primus Super Gourmet Cook Set

Primus Super Gourmet Cook Set

Rating for this product: 3 November 20, 2006

Picked these up for our club. They seem pretty beefy. I prefer teflon coats, but not worth it for club gear. A little heavier than MSRs blacklights. For the price a very nice cookset.

Superb

Black Diamond Contact Strap Crampon

Black Diamond Contact Strap Crampon

Rating for this product: 5 November 20, 2006

The Rensselaer Outing club still has ancient crampons. I've used them, and they are great if you can adjust them, which is nearly impossible and requires the use of a nut driver. These stick to your boots, I've used these, and Grivel G10s both are good, I like Black Diamonds better. Hiking on icy terrain really is really easy with these.
