Mountain Hardwear Shuksan Jacket - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Shuksan Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 April 17, 2009

wow, I would have never hesitated if I had known that this jacket was so amazing; I would have eagerly paid even more.....
wore this jacket while just walking around for (4 hours) in 40mph winds with snow coming sideways over an underarmour mock cold gear base and button front polyester shirt and never even flinched at the temperature and conditions. I am usually very chilled in those conditions and this time I was warm and comfy. The wind does not penetrate, yet the jacket breaths extremely well, sheds water and snow superbly. The cut is trim athletic, nice long arms and body, easily zips and unzips, nice velcro wrist closure, pliable in frigid temperatures, and cozy around the neck chin and face.
Would buy again in a blink of an eye

MSR Lightning Snowshoe - Women's

January 12, 2009

I also wear a 6.5 women's boot and truthfully the bindings on my 22" lightnings bulge on JUST ONE shoe.....the other is fine. hmmm? doesn't create any worry at all...unless you look down and aren't please with the aesthetics. Adjusting your foot position back may lessen the gap, just be sure to maintain the ball of foot position correctly centered.I wore a men's versions and the binding fit was similar although the shoe width was a tad bit more and I clumsily bang my shoes together.

La Sportiva Glacier Mountaineering Boot - Women's

La Sportiva Glacier Mountaineering Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 February 25, 2008

Amazing that these heavy duty backpacking boots required no break in and are comfy too. I took the time before the purchase to walk around for about an hour in two sizes and listened to my feet. Glad I did. I did not need to "break them in" and their first outside tour was on the PCT with a 40lb pack and 12 miles. NO worries, no fatiqued body parts either; and they felt great. They are warm in winter, I wear Dahlgreen backpacking socks and just can't praise the combo enough. The boots are quite "grippy" and stable on scree and loose ground, including ice. They have performed well during the summer and aren't too hot. I like the lacing system as it allows for locking tension at various points and does not come loose. I have a high instep AND arch, these allow room for orthotics and don't crush the top of my foot (instep). Loved them so well, I bot a second pair when they went on sale. (Oh yeah, they're pretty too!)

Columbia Omni-Dry Venture Pant

Columbia Omni-Dry Venture Pant - Women's

Columbia Omni-Dry Venture Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 20, 2007

I purchased these for warmer SAR conditions and am quite please with their performance.
PROs: lightweight, airy, quick drying, breathe REALLY well in hot conditions. Comes in LONG inseam length, nice pocket configuration.
CONs: too lightweight to withstand stickers, tree branches and rock scuffing...although they are ripstop.
yes, would buy again.

Mountain Hardwear Winter wander pant

Mountain Hardwear Winter Wander Pant - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Winter Wander Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 November 19, 2007

I purchased these pants for SAR during cooler conditions. PROs: I found them to be VERY comfortable in that they were cut well in the seat & thigh areas, are allover stretchy & snuggy. The exterior does not snag & does not attract or collect burrs. CONs: no belt loops, boot cut bottoms are a bit too big and they are cut very short in the inseam. (good thing we wear gaiters). I WOULD buy another pair none the less.
