Outdoor Research Crocodiles Gaiter - Women's

November 15, 2009

Are the Croc gaiters waterproof? Am wanting to use these for BC skiing and hiking. Hiking conditions range from spring/summer to wet to winter hiking in snow. Most backcountry time is spent in CO Rockies. Are the Verglas a better alternative -- their specs say waterproof.

Eagle Creek Load Warrior LT Series Wheeled Duffel Bags

April 26, 2009

I've had the LT22 since 2006 and it's been a great bag. But, I'm heading off on a 2 wk AK adventure soon and am considering upgrading to a larger bag. I'm torn between 2 eagle creek bags:

Load Warrior LT30, 59 linear inches, 9 lbs 6 oz, 6100 cu in, $224.95
ORV Trunk 30, 61 linear inches, 10 lbs 6 oz, 6000 cu in, $299.95

What are folks thoughts on advantages/disadvantages of these 2 bags? The LT30 has a shoe compartment -- can it fit hiking books? It also has slightly more capacity and is smaller (linear inches), lighter and cheaper than the ORV Trunk. The ORV Trunk seems to have more organizational separation but I don't care about that. As a matter of fact sometimes this can be a hindrance (to me) when packing outdoor gear. Also, what are the advantages of the pack it cubes? I've never used them before. Which do you recommend for which bag? I'm wondering if the LT30 with pack it cubes might still work better than the ORV trunk...

Thoughts?? Thanks for your help!

Smith Anthems are my goggles of choice.

Smith Anthem Regulator Spherical Series Goggles- Women's

Smith Anthem Regulator Spherical Series Goggles- Women's

Rating for this product: 5 February 15, 2006

I own both a pair of Oakley A Frames and these Smith Anthems. Both goggles rock for anti-fog and peripheral visibility. But, I have a small, narrow face and the Anthems seem to fit a bit better. Based on the other reviews regarding trouble with some of the lenses, I opted to buy these in Crystal Fuel with the standard RC36 lens. The lens has worked great in all but very flat light. But, at those times, all my other friends had trouble seeing too. I also like the stylish colors and the nicely coordinated headbands. The price might hurt the piggy bank for some, but it's money well-spent.

Primavera Hat

Isis Primavera Hat

Isis Primavera Hat

Rating for this product: 5 April 12, 2005

I know you've heard it before, but Isis really knows how to design clothes and accessories for women. This hat is great! The fleece lining provides just the right amount of warmth and the fit is snug around the ears, which I like. And let's admit, this hat is cute too. Every time I've worn it alpine skiing I've gotten compliments. This hat fits better than the Lucia Beanie. Lucia is a bit tall for my head--I think it's just a different style. The Primavera would work well for running too. I don't think I'd wear it on the wet, windy ski days but that's what my Schoeller hat is for.
