Boa’s quick-lace system is incredibly popular on high-end snowboard boots. Can the technology make our running shoes better, too?
Butt Rockers vs. Flair Bears
You see them roving the mountain in packs or pairs. They are highly protective of their group. They have the right tags, sags, or flair. Whether it’s tight or loose, bright or black, they look the part for a certain style. You know what we’re talking about—the Style Herds.
The Itch vs. The Funk

The Goat Blog
Full of acerbic wit and tongue-in-cheek scorn, Goat blog maestro Rocky Thompson tells us a bit about himself.
Employee Gear Closet - Backcountry.com
Since the employees at Backcountry.com have the unique opportunity to use all sorts of bomber gear, we asked them for some can’t lose favorites. Sweat soaked your back on the approach, and now it’s trickling through your base layers like little ice cubes as the howling wind steals your warmth. Sitting next to you, your partner has a smile on his face, color to his lips (not the blue in yours), and genuinely seems to be enjoying the day. Why is he so comfortable while you’re so miserable?

It is time to update my clothing, and the 2nd layer is the unknown. Will you help me by explaining some of the differences and what, in your opinion, a person should look for in this important clothing layer?
Layering 101
I use an Arc'Teryx Sindwinder SV for touring and resort riding. It is significantly thinner than my previous outer layer (The North Face Mountain Guide) so I am having trouble finding a layering system that will work for me. I tend to get warm quickly. If you could give me some options for warmer and cooler days I'd appreciate it.
