This Month's Gear Guru Question:

by Backcountry Bob
Q. Being a college student it's hard to find a balance of what I want and what my checkbook can afford. Right now I'm looking for a great 3-in-1 jacket that won't break the bank. Any suggestions?

A. Hi Katie,

You are in luck! We just happen to carry the best value on the market hands down for a technical fleece and shell combo: Marmot's Northshore Jacket (available in men's, as well). Take Marmot's award winning Precip Jacket with a cool max liner - a waterproof/breathable year round shell (it can handle rain, wind and snow) and add a removable zip in/out midweight fleece, that can be used alone or for added insulation for full winter protection. It is an awesome system for under $200. All your bases are covered without breaking your wallet. Good luck - get outside for your education!
