Canadian Avalanche Association

Although the Canadian Avalanche Association primarily focuses on Western Canada, that’s where most of the storm fronts enter continental North America. These guys give you some awesome tools to check out the storms rolling in off the Pacific, including killer infrared satellite maps, jet stream analyses, major weather fronts, and much more.

The site to visit for those coveted long-range forecasts. When you’re stuck under a dome of high pressure, and the local news drones on about how nice the clear weather is, log on to Accuweather and check out the storms rolling in on the 8-14 day outlook. Remember though, the further out the forecast, the less accurate.

The most snow-specific of our picks, snow-forecast.com features maps showing past and future precipitation amounts down to an amazing level of detail. Also has resort-specific forecasts.

The Resort Sports Network features an astounding array of real-time cams at ski resorts, lakes, summer destinations, and surf spots across the continent. It’s an invaluable resource for determining the day’s weather conditions before leaving the house.
