Hi, does the 3800 cubic inches include the collar extended to the top, r not? Also, it appears that when the collar is extended, the lid tilts forward, and it looks like it would interfere with your head. Is that the case? I'm looking to upgrade from the deter 40+10, but im not sure how much bigger this really is.

It is my understanding that the 3800 is the full capacity, as shown in this picture. When the collar is extended, you can adjust it so that it doesn't interfere with or bump your head. 3800cu in is perfect for 1-3 nights. You can always do 4 or 5 if you are sharing the load with another backpacker.
