Dirty Rope?
By Adriano Minniti
Ranked #189 - Single Ropes
November 20, 2009
After a few months of heavy use this rope turned almost black. I decided it was time for my rope to get a bath. It helped a lot. As you can see, a lot of dirt came out. Not only does it look nicer, but it handles better and moves through gear a little easier. Now my rope is like new.

Nice, that is definitely on my winter to-do list. Glad to hear good feed back on the washing. I saw Mammut said you could use a mild detergent if you wanted to, did you use anything or just let is soak?

This picture was from the first wash. I did two rounds both with warm water and some Tide detergent (about a 1/4 of what i'd do a full wash of clothes with). It worked fine. I let the rope soak for a while, constantly returning to move around the rope a little. I also ran the rope through a rag a few times which really helped. I'll post a picture of the rope after the wash.

I'd be careful about the type of soap you use. In my understanding, Tide doesn't qualify as 'mild.' But something like Woolite or a "hand-wash" detergent should be fine.
