LOVE THESE SHOES - I am a little disappointed at how quickly the frixion rubber wore away, but the quality of the shoe with its breathablity really is spectacular. I love the heel rise allowing for solid placement on etriers. If you don't appreciate it, try your aiders with a skate shoe!!! Good friction for approaches and solid climbing through 5.7 - 5.8. Great hiking shoe - good approach/climbing shoe If you only want an approach or only a climbing shoe that is not a technical climbing shoe I'd stick with the 5.10's
