ZOIC Ripper Bike Short - Youth
A removable mesh liner and cycle pad in the Zoic Youth Ripper Bike Shorts makes it possible for your kid to sweat up a storm mountain biking in the morning and then play for the rest of the day without a wet, padded liner holding him back. The Ripper Bike Shorts' lightweight, stretchy nylon fabric holds up to tree-branch scrapes, while a foam-padded, adjustable waistband adds comfort. Zoic's anatomically molded Zo-Wick cycle pad adds support to the wicking, six-panel removable liner. Let your bike grom stash an MP3 in the side pocket, and watch him grin as he runs the headphones out the port.
Bottom Line: Now there's a liner, now there isn't.

My son is a 28 in waist. Should I order the XXL in Zoic Youth or should I go with a XS in adult size?

That mainly depends on his height. The rise (crotch length) on the adult short is a bit more generous than the youth short, and it probably wouldn't hurt to up-size to an adult small so there's a little room to grow.
