Yakima DeadLock

Yakima DeadLock
The Yakima Deadlock is a must-have hitch mounting rack accessory. With one key, you can securely lock your bikes to your rack, and your rack to your vehicle. The Deadlock locks the furthest bike on the arms of your rack. With this bike locked, it's impossible to remove the inner bikes or the rack itself. Protect your investments!
Bottom Line: Karma is not enough security to keep your new $2,000 bike strapped to your unlocked hitch rack.

Very simple to install, easy to use. Convenient. Not super substanstial, but the low -cost and convenience make it an excellent buy.

GREAT lock BUT you can cut through the cable with ordinary bolt cutters, no problem. But its a perfect fit for the rack. As we all know if a thief really wants the bikes they will get them anyway.
Yakima Lock-kit

The lock kit is a generally good piece of gear. I like the fact that both locks are keyed to the same keys, and its compact storage. I dislike the fact that it really only secures the last bike on the rack. If you have only one bike on the rack, it has to go in the farthest position. A bit more length on the lock chain would have been nice.
It works well, but its a bit short.
Yakima ski saddle/bike hitch

I am very please with the rack itself, however, in order to fully secure the yakima hitch and rack mounts, both ski and bike it creates a problem.
First Yakima doesn't supply the hitch with adaquate equipment to lock it to the car/truck etc. Yes, you are provided with enough locks to lock down the skis or bikes, but not the hitch. It will generally cost another $50-$70 for locks alone. Plus the end of the pins must be turned down/ w/lathe to allow a yakima lock to secure the brackets. I had to purchase another 3 locks. @ yakima and 1 for the class 3 bolt onto the car.

The DeadLock is a good security product and very convient. My wife had no problems with it last weekend. It could be a foot or so longer.
