Yakima Bar End Caps - Set of 4
Yakima Bar End Caps, sold in sets of 4, are a handy piece of gear to have on your Yakima rack. End Caps protect both your head and your crossbars from bumps and bruises. Crossbars do not come with end caps, so if you're building a rack, pick yourself up a set of these to cap things off.
Bottom Line: If you hit your head against the Bar End Caps, you still might knock yourself out, but at least you won't need stitches.
Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.
Core Sample

Nothing hurts worst than taking a core sample of our head. Nothing bleeds more than a head wound. If you shelling out the dough for bars, protect your head. They look better and are cheaper than a hockey helmet, and who want to wear a hockey helmet all day?

Man these are the best caps for Yakima bars available....these end caps really cap the ends and are better then rags and tennis balls...although the tennis balls add more flavorflav.

They fit so tight I had to put them on with a hammer. Those bad boys won't be going anywhere.
Prevents rust and attacks

another necessary piece for your roof rack. Unless you want mileage to beat on the bars and possibly rust them, get these. Also banging your head on them would definitely hurt and is never good

I bought the end caps b/c reviews said they were great and were not included. I must be a lucky one, my cross bars had the end caps included.
Bare Ends for Awhile?

Had to super glue in. Fit loose but much better than naked end-holes.
Saved me from accidental bumps, & cuts

If you are accident prone like me these are an added neccesity to your rack. Nothing like standing up and whacking your head on a metal bar.
They stay in place and I haven't lost one yet.
Rust & Noise

I find it ridiculous that Yakima doesn't include these with the bars. However, they keep the bars from filling up with water & rusting, and they prevent additional wind noise if you drive with the windows open or the top off. The rack ends can scratch you, your bike, your ski P-Tex, your kayak, etc, etc, so for functionality, they are a necessity.
Good enough

What is there to say about end caps. They're boring but necessary.
