X-Socks Airforce 1 Trekking Sock

Winner of the Trek Magazine Best-in-Test award, X-Socks designed the Men's Airforce 1 Sinofit Trekking Sock with the exceptional ankle support, padding, and breathability necessary to withstand the heavy impacts induced by long, rugged treks. AirConditioning Channels and Traverse AirFlow Channels work in conjunction to keep your feet optimally cooled and bathed in fresh air to prevent blisters and reduce the onset of fatigue. Vertical-rod ankle padding provides additional support and protection without cutting off the airflow around your foot. Instep, heel, toe, and Achilles protectors all buffer your foot from the specific forces generated by trekking over rough uneven terrain. As with all X-Socks, the Airforce 1 Trekking sock features an X-Cross bandage that supports the crucial muscles, tendons, and ligaments around your ankle. The Sinofit system, featuring anti-microbial Silver NODOR fibers, offers the highest surface area of silver (99.9%) of any knit yarn construction on the market. The direct contact of silver ions retards the growth of unwanted bacteria, like athlete's foot, without destroying the desirable natural bacterial environment of healthy skin.

Bottom Line: Trek the distance in the Airforce 1, X-Socks' top-of-the-line trekker.

Great all-round soks for the winter

By: Christophe(1)

xsocks are expensive, and the airforce 1's are expensive xsocks. But they are the only soks that last, I normally wear them out quite quickly. Remarkably, the fit of the airforce is slightly bigger than that of my other xsocks (sun speed one, bk ultra). The difference is not big (definitely not 1 on the 1-4 scale xsocks use, maybe 1/2 or 1 on the standard US scale) , but noticable. I use them for anything in the winter when the low socks are too cold, and they are great. I have not used them enoug to see if the silver will prevent them from getting a funky smell over the years.

One just isn't enough

I bought one pair along with the X-sock hikers. The hikers are too warm for me. These are tight like TED socks so they force the blood back up your legs. Feels real good after a while. After five mile pack hikes sitting down for just a few minutes gets the feet feeling well recovered. Very cool, no sweatiness in the hiking boots. I used them for several hikes without washing and they are still odorless. Price, ouch.

Part Deux

I bought another three pair plus the lightweight running socks and Storm sock. I think they are really great socks. I won't put them in the dryer anymore as that seems to harsh em. I can't wait until all my Thorlo running socks have holes in them and can be tossed.

Priceless

These are expensive but as anyone on a long trek or a simple day hike has come to learn very quickly, you can't put a price on protecting your feet. There are short term pricey options such as moleskin, and perhaps still necessary for the very sensitive, though I doubt it. These socks provided excellent support, cushioning, air-flow, shielding. I had no issues with sweat, abrasion/rubbing, odor (at all), etc. they utilize nearly pure silver in the footbed portion of the sock. I'm not sure what that helps with but it didn't restrict the fabric in any way. I bought two pairs and will be watching for any deals to buy some for everyday life. I personally have a problem with odor, air flow, and fatigue. With these socks either hiking 8 miles with a pack or sitting at my desk at work there is NO PROBLEM. These socks are worth thier weight in gold.

Comfortable and warm

I picked these socks up with some hiking in the Teton Range in mind. Not only were they warm, very comfortable (thanks to the ergo fit) but I came back without foot pain - a first. hey support the foot well and didn't rub or chafe. I know use them in between hikes for wearing around. One of the socks has a "run" in them starting at the interface between two different fabric types next to the ankle. Although I was a bit disappointed that such an expensive sock would tear after such a short time I am still sold on the performance of the sock.

The skeptic converted.

Last summer, I took a long trek in France in some very rugged terrain on the Chemin de St. Jacques. I was well equipped - except for my socks. The result was the loss of three toe nails and a good bit of discomfort on what should have been a lark. Since returning, I have been experimenting with socks - all types. I hesitated at the price of these, but remembering my experience, I gritted my teeth and took the plunge. Glad I did. These socks are all they are advertised to be. They manage to give superior support and padding without excess bulk. You don't feel like the Michelin Man walking around in them. I intend to buy several more pairs. Now all I have to do is take on a part-time job to pay for them!
