Vasque Zephyr Tech Backpacking Boot - Men's

Say goodbye to imprecise lacing tension and stride-stopping re-ties with the new Zephyr Tech Boot from the trekking experts at Vasque. Boa Technology replaces traditional laces with a braided-steel cable and caveman-easy single-dial tightening system. The near-frictionless system cinches down with a quick twist and releases at the press of a button, eliminating broken laces, sore fingers, and blisters born from sloppy boot fit. The Zephyr Tech is built for serious hiking and backpacking performance, with a Vibram Summit sole, waterproof Gore-Tex insert, and an upper comprised of breathable softshell fabric and durable 2.4mm Nubuck leather.

Bottom Line: Leave your laces behind, and fall in love with the Zephyr Tech from Vasque.

BOA system works great so far. Love the feel of the whole boot tighting. With one arm getting laces tied can be a pain! Feel good out of the box. Fit true to size I got a half size big and they fit exactly the way I expected. No complaints so far but haven't taken them out on trails.

Any problem with the lace system breaking on these? I'd hate to be 20 miles deep in the backcountry to find out!

I've had 3 pairs of North Face Boa shoes and the lacing system has never malfunctioned. In fact, it was the shoe fabric that wore out to a point that I couldn't wear the shoe any longer, not the Boa system. These are GREAT shoes for someone who likes to get up and go, without the hassles of tying laces. It provides a better all around fit than regular laces too....but really, it's the lazy mans dream!

The BOA system seems strong. I have pulled them outof the box all the parts seem fine. The only thing that MIGHT be week would be the actually tighting knob.

Over All Opinion

I am a runner, and I am on my fourth pair of North Face running shoes that use the BOA lacing system. I have never had any problems out of any of them, and I was looking for a BOA system boot. That is what brought me to the Zephyr. I just received my pair in the mail, and here is what I think so far. I wear a 11.5 US in the men's Arnuva 50 shoe, and my Zephyr are size 11. With regular socks, they feel half a size too big. There is no Winter where I live, so I do not own any thick socks. So I think a 10.5 would be the best fit for me. I would also like to point out that there should be independent lacing systems for the ankle support, and the foot support. As your feet swell from running or hiking, it would be nice to adjust one without adjusting the other. But these are comfortable, and I plan on putting them to the test over the next three months, so we will see!

I have a wide foot. Will these boots work for me?

I've found that Merrell & Scarpa boots tend to fit people with wider feet better. Just an observation.

Should I order the same size hiking boot as my street shoes?...

Should I order the same size hiking boot as my street shoes? Or slightly larger to accomodate wool socks?

Larger, especiallly if you are going to go downhill. Sometimes 1 size larger, depends on manufactuer.

Order a half size up to account for thicker socks & sock liners.
