Vasque Breeze GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

It's been raining for the last three days of your backpacking trip, but your feet are still dry and comfortable thanks to the Vasque Men's Breeze XCR Hiking Shoes. Their mid-height tops support your ankles as you hike with your 40-pound pack, and the Vibram Contact soles provide excellent traction on the wettest, slickest trails. A plastic Flexframe 1 Plate separates the Breeze XCR's midsole from outsole. The frame has an excellent forward flex, but limits twisting to keep your ankles stable. Most importantly, the Breeze XCR Hiking Shoes' Gore-Tex XCR linings keep your feet bone dry even when you're slogging through four inches of standing water on the trail.

Bottom Line: A rainy week on the trail? It's a Breeze with these excellent shoes from Vasque.

Recommend these boots

The Vasque Boot is well worth the money. The best Boot I have owned yet, after just a few days of wearing them at work ands they were ready for hiking. I wore these boots on a trail that bordered Lake Ontario. Several parts of the trail were ankle deep water and to no avail my feet remained dry. The boots felt like sneakers. I have no issues with the plastic lace hooks very dependable.

Will be doing a thru hike of the AT shortly, and want to replace my Montrail mid height boots with a low hiking boot. Someone suggested that Vasque makes a great mid height hiking boot and also has a low height version of the same boot. Any idea which Vasque model they are referring to? Thanks.

It is very likely that the Vasque Breeze is the model you are referring to. It is highly rated in most reviews, and is available in both low and mid height. Another Vasque is the Catalyst Mid GTX which is listed as a multisport. It is a somewhat lower version than a typical mid hiking boot. The low version of this boot is no longer available. Vasque.com shows their boots in a simple layout for comparison.

Great Boot, but.....

I too question why Vasque used plastic hooks? That said, this boot took no time to break-in, just a couple of hours of walking at work. I wore them after a late snow fall in the Spring Moutains and my feet stayed dry. I replaced my Wasatch's with these, I like the Wasatch better. I'll keep these just for trails, and buy another pair of Wasatch for rock and boulder hopping. I just don't trust those plastic lace hooks.

sent them back

Great boots, lightweight, comfy - but - they have changed to plastic lace hooks on these boots, I broke one off second day of use walking in brush, i'm not too graceful so may not be an issue with others. Be warned, if you break one of the little plastic hooks off, the boots are done, they wont lace properly and create pressure point upper foot (tried it) Good return policy so sent them back for "Wasatch" model (metal hooks)

Good Boot - Didn't Fit Though

By:

I ordered these initially in my normal size - 10R. These seem to be a great boot. Unfortunately, they were too narrow for my "normal" feet. I've never had to wear a wide size before. I ended up going to a local retail store to try on various sizes. It wasn't until I tried a size 11R did I feel like my toes weren't being pinched. In addition, for me, there is too much padding on the instep and top of the toe box. I ended up returning these boots and going with a different brand.

Fantastic Boots... If you love you feet these are the boots for you....

Great fit, quick to break in, dry like a sauna... I bought these boots for year round hiking. I figured I'd go for something with a goretex liner since I live in the wet coast of Canada, also known as Vancouver. I've used them a few times since and have to say they are fantastic. I've even worn them snowshoeing twice and never had a single complaint or blister. In fact the breaking in of the boots took place on a short (1-2hrs) but particularly wet hike up one of the local mountain. Last weekend I went to one of the local mountain and went for a snowshoe up the hill. It snowed 4-5 inches while we were out snowshoeing and most of the trails ha not been travelled yet this year so we were setting the trails and sinking 6-8 inches into the powder with ever step. After 2.5 hours we went back to the truck and my feet were both warm and dry, which is more than I can say for many other parts of my body. I give them a definite must buy... As I said in the title, "If you love you feet and want them to return the affection you should treat your feet with these boots."

Good boots

I took my recently purchased Vasque Breeze XCR Hiking Boots on their first trip this past week. We were mostly day hiking in the Grandfather Mountain area of the Western North Carolina mountains. These boots were very comfortable for the entire week. Break-in was pretty much non existent. The grip provided on the trail and bare rock faces was tremendous. Even with temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s, my feet stayed nice and cool. While rock hopping the rivers my feet stayed nice and dry. I think these boots would work well for a backpacking trip as well.

i love these boots. lightweight, waterproof (unless it gets in from above the ankle) and durable. 2 annoying things though. first pair came undone on the heel but I returned them and got a brand new pair. also, they could have better grip on slick rocks.

Great lightweight boots!

LOVE these boots. Super comfortable and lightweight. After little break-in they performed fantastically on a 12 and then a 13 mile hike. Also did a light overnight trip using these and they were very comfortable and supportive. My feet have never felt so good after such long hikes.
