Vasque Kota GTX XCR Hiking Shoe - Men's

It's been about a month now with these shoes and so far, the verdict is still out. The positives are the normal things like design, weight, looks, construction, etc. I could go on but I'll just stick to some concerns, because this is what consumers need to know: 1) I wish they made a 12 1/2 mens size. I'm forced to wear bike sox just to keep my feet from being too cramped in the size 12, but I don't want to oversize my shoes to a sloppy feeling 13. 2) When walking on slick wet surfaces, WATCH OUT. maybe I need to scuff up the soles a little more, but right now they can be VERY slippery on wet surfaecs. 3) They may be water proof and they may breath well, but if you do get water inside, they don't dry well while wearing them and you will get some serious foot odor when you finally take them off. No break-in issues, they wear just fine, although I have not put them through their intended use yet. So far its just been everyday wear, getting them ready for a 16 day trek through Southeast Asia. I'll report back with the verdict after then.

I've had these shoes for a couple of weeks now, and I am thrilled with them. They are not only very comfortable and supportive, but they also look good. I have had other kinds of "walking" shoes, and none of the others can compare to these. I am very happy that I bought them.

I wore these shoes everyday for two months during a recent trip to Argentina and Chile and they were awesome! They are super comfortable, waterproof, and the soles provide incredible traction. I hiked in the Patagonia in pouring rain and knee-deep snow and combined with a pair of calf high gaiters (highly recommended) my feet stayed dry, warm, and comfortable. Another reviewer said Vasque "hit a homerun" with these shoes; I'd say they "hit a grandslam."

Took them to Zion and Bryce last week, feet stayed dry and happy despite splashing through snow melt, bouldering on the sandstone and hiking up backcountry switchbacks. They're not new anymore but still in great shape.

These are by far the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned, period! I have used them for everything from everyday around-town walking to light backpacking. I wear them almost every day and they last me about a year. Purchasing my third pair now!!!

definitely a solid shoe, has nice armor on toe and around shoe to reduce wear. solid design and fit all around. the only minus i found is they aren't as insulated as expected. would use it more as a spring or summer shoe than winter. Haven't put them under water yet but slush and mud haven't dampened them at all yet. the tread on the bottom also rocks, haven't lost traction on anything yet, and are great in the snow and steep climbs, overall a solid 4.5

I bought the Vasque Kota GTX XCR shoe for my husband and he loves them. They are indeed waterproof (did a 3-mile walk in the pouring-down-rain with no leakage) and are extremely comfortable right out of the box. No break-in period required. Extra grippy and stylish. Great shoe!

Terrific shoe. When I pulled them out of the box I thought they felt really stiff and I was worried that they would have a long break in period. I was wrong. It took about five minutes. They are stiff where they need to be stiff, and flexible where they need to be flexible. I have day hiked in Lowa Tempest lows for years, and I thought they were a terrific show, but honestly I think i have found my new day hiker. The Gore-Tex liner is terrific. A worthy addition to anyones gear chest.

Great all around!!! is all I have to say. I know everyone's feet fit differently depending upon brand, but I have hit a home run with This shoe. I decided to buy it because I bought a pair of Backpacking boots that are also a Vasque product. I figured if those boots fit, then others of this brand should as well. I have already logged some miles on these, very fast break in period. Not too stiff, but very well made and strong. I even walked through some large puddles to see if any water would seep into the shoe past its Gore-tex lining.....It didn't, dry as a drum. They also appear to breath very well for Gore-tex, however, It has been in the 40's thru 60's in Tahoe so the warmer weather has yet to come. For someone who is prone to blisters from other brands, this one works for me. I am pretty hard on boots since I live in an area that has primarily granite rocks, which can be hard on boots & shoes. These shoes are really well made, No signs of flaws or poor craftsmanship. I especially like the rubber toe cap which really prevents scuffs from scrambling up rocks. I would highly recommend these boots. With me, as soon as I tried them on, I could tell by the way they fit, that I was in for some great hiking in them.

With the temperature here in West Virginia struggling to get out of the single digits, wind chill -20, and a good snow cover, there is one thing I can say for sure... My feet are dry! No they are not made for knee deep snow, so don't try to wade through knee deep snow! But if you are looking for a great pair of shoes that can and will keep your feet dry... Look no further.

A great sturdy hiker. A little narrow in the toe and a little small to size, but all and all a great shoe. The sole has handled the snow and ice very well and my feet have been dry and warm. The sole is quite rigid, so not really a show for everyday comfort (although I wear them virtually everyday, not as comfortable as a lighter weight hiker)

These shoes kick butt. Soo waterproof and comfortable. I have really put them through some nasty stuff and not a drop of water or one blister.

I'm not much on giving out opinions on shoes, but I must say these Kota's make my dogs smile. Got them before going to Italy , ground pounded in Venice, Florence, and Rome. They're still ground pounding in Germany. They're waterproof, comfortable, durable, stylin', profilin'... O.k, you get the point. If your dogs are barking!! Get these shoes!!
