Vasque Clarion GTX Boots - Men's
Would you like the support of a leather boot without the extended break-in periods? The Vasque Clarion GTX hiking boot is built with a Bimodial insole for increased support in this fabric and leather boot. No longer will you have to get new boots a month in advance to break them in for a weekend in the hills. With fabric components, this boots will be ready in a couple days. Tough enough for week-long backpacking trips, the Clairon GTX also has a Gore-Tex liner to keep your feet dry, whether your excursion's in August or October.
Bottom Line: Fabric boot performance with leather boot support.

I got these boots because my dad had an older pair that were a tiny bit too small for me but i really liked. the new pair was a little bit stiff at first, but they quickly broke in and now i use them all the time. Whether its hiking in the mountains, or walking to school in the snow, these boots are a great buy.

Being as how I have only had the boots one month this review is based only on break in time. I used the boots in the Hetch Hetchy area mostly--took them down the Poopenaut trail which is about a 2 mile hike in and out but an elevation difference of 1229' both ways. For boots that I had only just received and minimally broke in the Clarions worked out great. No hot spots, plenty of ankle support (a basic need on my part) and yet plenty of comfort mostly coming back up. The hike back up was void of normal switchbacks and must have been developed by local fisherman wanting to get a direct route to the river below. Still a beautiful destination and worth the hike. I did hike a couple of trails in Yosemite as well with my boots giving me no problems. Why a 4 instead of a 5 ranking--I am saving a 5 for the boot that carries me back up that hike.

I've worn Vasque in the past, probably for the last 10 years or so. These are the lightest Vasque boots I've purchased and when I took them out of the box really thought they would be too light (I thought I preferred all leather). These boots felt very different than the all leather boots of which I was familiar, but took little break in and I wore them hunting a couple weeks after receiving them (I have "heavy duty" hunting boots I normally wear). They felt great. I took them hunting again the next weekend and again they felt great. They are light, but seem to hold up really well. I wear them everyday, as my casual footwear, and have come to realize on the weekends when maybe I'd be putting them through a bit more work they stand up to it. I've only owned them a month or two, but so far I'm impressed. I gave them a 4, based on my limited experience with them. I keep expecting them to start breaking down a bit with harder use, but they don't. We'll see in a year if they're still holding together (I wear them 6 - 7 days a week). If their initial quality is any indication, I think they'll still be my everyday and hunting boots. Also, ordering from this site (my first time) went really smooth and I received exactly what I ordered in a reasonable amount of time. I will order from this place again.

I've owned Clarion's for over ten years. Just recently I purchased a new pair, and my first trip included a rainy/snowy hike over a tree-line pass. The trail had mostly been flooded with water from the downpour, so these boots were submerged in water much of the hike. My feet were dry and extremely comfortable while carrying a 25 pound pack, and I hadn't even broken them in yet. A 4-mile hike in w/o blisters, hot spots, or any pain at all, along with many years of great experiences with this boot, made it an easy 5 out of 5 for me.

I am fairly new to the game, but these boots worked perfectly for me. I took 3 day hikes in them and then did King's Peak Utah (26 miles round trip) with no blisters or even hot spots. They felt stiff at first, but broke right in. Worked best for me with midweight hiker socks (early September).

The boots provide a good ride, they’re rather stiff and hard to break in, but I didn’t suffer any blisters on the initial 14er. Oh, and they are slightly taller than my Sundowners, which takes some getting used to wearing.

These boots are incredible. I was skeptical at first because they seemed really stiff but they broke in fast and I never got any blisters or anything from them during that time. The wide size fits my foot better than any other boot I've ever had and the Gore-Tex works great!
