Volkl Sumo Alpine Ski

With a waist width of 125mm, the Volkl Sumo is a true big mountain behemoth. When it dumps three feet and you're itching to ski sick, steep terrain, break out this fatty and prepare for the best day of your life. Available in 175 and 190cm lengths , the Volkl Sumo has a sexy figure for laying down buttery-smooth turns in the deeps. The sidecut ensures safe navigation on the groomers on your way back to the lift. The Sumo's wood core features tank-like strength to make it down the most insane lines.

Bottom Line: These Volkl skis are so fat, even a Sumo wrestler could float the pow on it.

Yeah, sorry about your bad experience with Volkl's warranty procedures, but the Volkl Sumo kicks ass! Vent all you want about the company, but if you were a TRUE skier you would be more concerned with performance rather than brand bashing. Go ahead buy something else... your loss. The VOLKL SUMO is one of the best skis ever made. And, if you like to rip the whole mtn... any kind of back county big mtn type lines (Superior, Cardiac, etc) you will love this ski! I've skied some of my most memorable lines on these skis, and have never been disappointed with a Volkl ski. Since we're sharing personal opinion's... I would also recommend the Mantra, Gotama, and Katana... I've skied them all and each one of them have blown my mind!

Volkl Warranty

It appears Volkl is back to their old tricks. Volkl used to not warranty their skis if you bent them in the moguls. In the 1990's, there was a Park City ski shop that ate about 50 pairs because Volkl would not warranty their skis.

Worst company on earth

DO NOT BUY VOLKL SKIS!!!! I bought a pair of Volkl Sumo's in January for 1000 dollars the skis did not even make it through the end of March, and I am a telemark skier, that weighs 150 lbs!!! Then two days later my friend folded a pair of demo Katana's on a groomer. Volkl would not do anything for me. They said "they might give me a match if something became available." Which as far as I am concerned is a crock. They really want me to ski on two different skis; and they want me to think that this is a favor. I plan on skiing for at least another 50 years and if Volkl would have handled this correctly they could have had a customer for life. However, at this point I will never purchase another pair of Volkl skis and it has become my mission to make sure that no one I know buys a pair ever. This is the worst company in the ski industry, and if you buy skis from them, when the skis break and Volkl leave's you hanging don't say that you were not warned.
