Synthetics are great—they wick like crazy, insulate, and won't bind when you layer 'em. Unfortunately, they stink to high hell after a day in the mountains. The North Face solves the synthetic conundrum with the Women's XTC Expedition ¼-Zip Top. This long-sleeve performance shirt's bamboo-charcoal treated polyester fabric does all the good stuff, yet doesn't hold odors. So even if you've been in the mountains for a week, you won't smell like it. The North Face threw on a ¼-length zipper to help you cool off during tough ascents, and a high neck line to hold in the warmth in frigid weather.
