The North Face Pumori Fleece Jacket - Men's
Don't pigeonhole The North Face Men's Pumori Fleece Jacket as a coat for the street. This versatile top doesn't stop where the sidewalk ends. Polartec 200 fleece gives you low-bulk warmth that locks in heat and breathes well for on-the-trail (or on-the-town) comfort. Quadrilateral sleeve construction and reinforced stitching bolster durability, and contoured pockets ease access, even when you're wearing a pack. For hassle-free layering, pair the Pumori Fleece with any of The North Face's zip-in compatible jackets.
Bottom Line: The Pumori Fleece is bound to become one of your all time favorites.

This fleece is well made and you wouldn't expect anything else from TNF. However, if you are wearing it an outer layer it is not no good below 40 degrees or if there any wind above 5-10 mph. Granted they do not claim to have wind resistance, but I would have expected it to perform better since it is Polartec 200. It serves its function very well, warmer (above 40) calm weather and zip in capability. But if you are expecting anything extra out of it, you will be disappointed. One feature I loved, is that the arms and torso are not really short. I'm 6'2" and I have a hard time getting jackets to be long enough and this covers my belt completely and is a good length on my arms. If you buy it for its intended purposes you will not be disappointed! And it is well worth the money, as is just about everything from TNF.

How loose is this jacket? I recently lost my tka 200 TNF fleece that I loved and I'm looking to get a new one that is not so loose fitting. Which is more fitted, the pumori or the khumbu?

They are pretty similar cuts. If you want something that has more of a performance fit, check out the Momentum Jacket. It is more of a Powerstretch type fabric, but it costs about the same as the more traditional fleece fabrics and gives you a performance fit. The Momentum is one of my all time favorite outerwear and layering pieces at a killer price.

The khumbu has an athletic fit as well, the key is to size down. I wear Medium in everything (TNF, patagonia), but I purchased the khumbu in a Small, fits perfectly.

My son is 5'11 1/2 and weighs about 172. He is only 15 and a swimmer so he is muscular but lean. Is not as meaty in places older guys are in other words...what size would he wear? Medium?? I would like it to last a little while too cuz he isnt finished growing.

I am 5'10 and weigh about 175. My chest is 42.5". I selected large, because medium was tight under arm pit. I hope it would be helpful for you.

On my 2nd one now. First one lasted 5 plus years before the collar unraveled, I put a hole in the sleeve, the dog enlarged it and my wife made me buy a new one. In a 365 day year here along the continental divide, I wear it at least 200 days. Around town, up Mt. Helena in the morning with the dog, driving to Glacier or Yellowstone, out in the garden, shoveling snow, fixing fence etc etc, it is my first "grab" from the bootroom. Versatile, good weight, warm enough, simple, reliable. Stands up to abuse and cleaning well, even looks good in public!
Bought my new one last month and am looking forward to breaking it in as Fall is in the air and winter close behind.

What NF shell would you recommend for this fleece? I'm buying for my husband; we live in Boston, where it's cold, and we ski in Maine and Vermont, where it's even colder.

My husband loves the fleece. The color is great; it goes with anything. The fleece is ultrawarm and repels our son's spit up (essential when you have a little one). It has convenient snaps for gloves. Only downfall, the inner pockets (although not intended to be pockets) should have zip closures, so as to have more storage. Great price, no problems with shipping or payment. Would recommend backcountry and north face to anyone.
Thanks,
BrettMarie

I got the Jacket for my husband. He Loves the jacket. He wears it everywhere. What's great about it for him is he can wear it on cool days or on cold days and it gives him the warmth he needs. Also what I like about it is when it comes to washing the jacket it comes out looking great. No fading or shrinking. Just a great jacket overall I plan to buy one for myself. I am very happy with the choice I made in getting the Pumori Jacket.

This North Face fleece does great on it's own, but zips easily into my North Face Mountain Light Shell for colder temps. Definitely a good jacket that can do well in a wide variety of temperatures. I'm fairly tall and slender and the jacket is slightly shorter than I would prefer but not a very big issue. I look forward to getting years of use out of this fleece!

This is one sharp jacket! Not only does it have the logo on the front, it also has the NF logo on the back shoulder. Totally cool! And Backcountry is an awesome vendor. I placed my order in the AM and they shipped SAME DAY! The package was at my door in three business days! I have never had to return anything so I can't speak intelligently on that subject, but I can't imagine that their customer service would be anything less than A1. This is the second Christmas that I have turned to NF and to Backcountry. I am completely sold! You can't go wrong here!

Great jacket that works well in a variety of functions. I especially like the internal goggle pockets. They are great for quick storage of eye-wear or whatever on the mountain. Also, TNF doesn't really have a good mp3 pocket with a headphone port like some other brands, so the goggle pockets work for that as well. I don't know why they don't list it on the the specs. So far, the pumori is the only jacket I've seen with them, but I wish they would put them on others like the denali as well.

I am 55 year old Montanan and have been buying TNF since I was 21. You guys take the cake in performance, durabilty, value and service. I love this coat. It is incredibly warm on it's own and insulates so well, even when it gets wet. When I wear it with my Mountain Light Jacket the combination is bullet proof and beleive me, I have been in some bad weather. Keep up the good work!
Thanks a lot - Grizzly Bloom

Material is nice, thick 200 weight fleece. I pair mine with a TNF Varius Guide. Fantastic combo thus far.
I have found that I'm right in-between a small and medium when it comes to TNF tops (5' 8" 150ish). I opted for a small in this fleece to reduce bulk when layered under my shell.
Any questions?

My 15 year old son got this for Christmas. I ordered the cardinal red but exchanged it for a gray one. He wears it everyday this winter, even in Chicago when he should really be wearing a winter coat. They love the North Face products because of the name mostly, but he really likes it and will get good use out of it.
Sweet fleece!

This is an awesome fleece for lounging around, hiking on a crisp fall day, etc, etc., etc.. Its not a havey duty fleece and you will need to combine this with a jacket during the winter(depending on where you reside) but the North Face Pumori fleece will be a prefect cool weather choice for all your needs.
