I would suggest a Medium for your size.

Definitely the medium especially if you're layering.

get a medium. i'm 6'1, 190 and a large is just a bit too big.

I'd go with the larger size especially if you're layering.

MED a LG?!? Also see review below

By:
April 19, 2008

Well, I tried the medium and the size fit. ( See my review on the large below) There were a few flaws in the coat and the hood is sized for a helmet! Needless to say I sent the jacket back. I want to compliment the people at BC, they do a great job in CS!! Now TNF just needs to get a few things fixed.. like thier sizing and some designing issues! I next tried a large Amplitude jacket which WAS the right size for my body! This could of been a really nice jacket BUT the outer zipper is weak plastic and came apart the second time I zipped it up! I wanted to keep that jacket but the arm pits are cut so small you need to be a rail for a decent fit. What a shame, I have many columbia jackets that just walk all over these products at a lower cost. Will someone wake up TNF!!!

TNF sizing Issues

By:
March 22, 2008

This is the second North Face jacket I have ordered only to find it does not fit. Although very high quality and a very warm jacket, it is WAY too big. ( I ordered my usual Large). The arms are over 4 inches too long, and I can pinch an easy 4 inches of slop away from my mid core with the jacket zipped up. I bought a large in a North Face wind breaker which was made in a different Asian country and it was TOO small. The bummer is I bought a beautiful North Face down jacket for one of my kids and it is Perfect, Size and all. The only choice I had was to order a medium jacket in the color I don't want to check the fit. (Black is no more in Med. and two hits on the CC at once.. ouch). I just wish The North Face would get a standard going for their sizes. One country to the next in Asia just isn't cutting it. Crossing my fingers and hoping the med. will fit!!! Cut the mao and bring on the mustard The North Face, you are surely going to lose customers just over a simple sizing issue. 1 size standard for all foreign country makers.. just a suggestion. Buyers be willing to hit and miss I am afraid, or be lucky enough to try on a specific garment and size before ordering.

I'm Lovin It

By:
January 21, 2008

Suffice to say my son (age 17) LOVES this jacket. It was intended as a Christmas gift but due to situation at hand he did not get it until 12/26.I improvised, put a picture of the jacket along with the "tracking" of the shipment so he could see it was ordered, but delayed. The JOY in his face as he read the stuff I put in a box was simply unforgettable. He LOVES that coat and now that we have very arctic like weather here in Philadelphia he is really staying warm.

Excellent jacket!

By:
December 25, 2007

Pros: Very warm, what I need inside is just a short and a long sleeve T. This combination works through the whole chilly winter in Binghamton(NY) area. Average high temperatures in the winter are in the low to mid 30s here; Lots of bags(8) to hold things, which is so rare in TNF jackets. Don't even need a pack when making a short hike. Con: Bottom of the jacket is too wide, even after pulling the string to close it, so when strong wind blows into jacket and you feel cold.

Unbelievable Jacket

By:
December 20, 2007

First, this is the most expensive jacket I have ever own. I got my jacket today and sure enough it was warm when I walked out in the snow. Arm is a bit long for me, but it fit very nicely. My roommate loves the jacket. I have a feeling I will be wearing this jacket quite a bit this winter. Not to forget this site has the best services around. Worth every penny!!!!!!!

disappointed

By:
December 8, 2007

Convincing myself that more often than not, you get what you pay for, I finally treated myself to an expensive winter coat this year. The other reviews raved about how warm it is, but I feel cold in 30F weather in NYC. However, the hood is extremely warm, unlike the rest of the coat. Overall, I feel like my no name, less expensive coat was warmer. Guess I was wrong; I paid for the name.

best coat i've ever owned!

By:
November 9, 2007

I'm crazy about the cold i don't like it one bit, thats why i ordered this coat. It's amazing everywhere i go people are in love with it. I ordered the black one. Its beautiful and unbelieveably warm, the weather has no effect on this coat what so ever. I live in chicago when the winter comes it really hits hard, thats not even an issue now. If you order the coat you will notice that is is a little heavy, trust me it's worth the inconvience. For the money that you will spend it worth every penny!

Great Jacket. High Import duties.

Great Jacket, Really happy with the quality of your service too. One down side I was hit with £50 import Tax, which would make me think twice on using UPS again as they declare all their packages to UK customs.

Great Service

By:
January 4, 2007

I must admit that I was a little skeptical about ordering such a big ticket item from the internet. But I was highly impressed with the service and speed it was delivered, and would recommend using this company again. The jacket is great, too bad there has been no snow in Toronto this year.
