I bought this to replace my Columbia Bugaboo Jacket, that I had for 10 years. Hopefully this jacket will last just as long. So far the jacket is working out great, it kept me warm all last winter. My only complaint is that the hood is not a hide away.

I bought this jacket in black/grey for my dad after I bought a triclimate for myself, and he loves it! He wears it with his khumbu jacket (it's great b/c it of the zip-in compatibility). It's versatile allowing multiples uses.

Great for ice climbing, warm and designed to permit movements on shoulders and arms, I've made a good deal.

see my last review on the Ice Jacket #2. This jacket could be a nice one if the main zipper wasn't plastic * which came apart after zipping it only twice!~ )and the arms weren't so small. ( You need tooth picks and no muscles for this arm to fit right.) It could rate a ten but with these small yet Major faults for the price, even on sale I would give it a 2 or 3. North Face really needs supervision and some quality control over the making of these jackets. Asia isn't gettin' it guys.... I am very disapointed.

I brought this jacket for my college son who lives in the DC jacket. The multi-purpose part of the jacket is as advertised. The shell is water proof, and he wore last weekend in the rain without the lining. We have other NF products, and will therefore allow him to zip them into this jacket as well. In sum, we believe he could use this jacket for 6 months of the year.
This is the third time we purchased from this site (all NF products), and we're happy to mention that service and delivery has been executed in the utmost professional manner.

Got the jacket for snowboarding and general outdoor use. Not dissappointed, when the slopes are warm take out the lining, when it's chilly put it in and stay cosy. The only design flaw with this jacket is the cuffs, they are uncomfortable, and the Velcro strap on them is weak and comes undone easily. Otherwise great!

This jacket is everything I expected it would be. Great warmth, kept out the wind and snow too. The liner zips in and out without any problem. The fit is super. I skied 4 hard days in Aspen, including some big powder, right after getting the jacket and it performed flawlessly.

I just took this jacket with me on a 9 day back-packing excursion through Europe and I loved it (both the jacket and the trip). I was so happy that I had purchased the Amplitude jacket becuase it kept me warm and dry! I found the pull-strings at the waist to be very helpful in keeping the jacket snug especially when carrying my 4900 cf pack on my back. The neck of the jacket is pretty stiff, but when fully zipped up the fleece lining at the top is nice to cover your chin with when the wind kicks up. At the new sale price this jacket is a no brainer!!! The staff has been incredible...I originally purchased the cardinal red jacket, but about 5 days before leaving for my trip I decided to exchange it for the black jacket. They were able to get it to me before I left for Europe which was great! Enjoy the jacket and most of all enjoy working with the Staff!!!!

Pros: The jacket itself is awesome!
- There are enough pockets, vents, pull-strings, & wearable combinations to satisfy you throughout the year.
- Interchangeable lining with my Men’s Denali Fleece Hoodie, size Large.
- Haven’t hit ski trails yet, but outer shell is wind resistant, so this jacket will keep you warm.
- It is lightweight & strong. Great general use jacket!
Cons: Not many cons for this general purpose jacket.
- Jacket does not have a snow skirt, so won’t protect against downhill spill. However, does have pull-strings to tighten bottom of jacket to desirable size.
- Hood works great & detaches easily but don’t expect wonders. Its thin, so in winter don’t rely solely on it for warmth. However, it has two pull-strings to dilate it on your face & one on back of hood to tighten around ur scalp.
Ur getting a jacket with 3 in 1 functionality. Many jackets out there only provide 1 function, solely winter or a light jacket, & they cost as much, or more, as Amplitude Triclimate!
Winter = 3 months.
Fall + Winter + Spring = 9 months.
For under $200, would you rather use jacket for only 3 months out of the year, or 9 months out of the year? Definitely get more bang for your buck w/ this jacket!

Real nice jacket, but as other people have mentioned it does show dirt quickly. I will purchase another North Face though!

I received jacket by standard mail 3 days after online purchase. Most of my jackets are North Face. Shell is awesome color, high quality, and well fit. The jacket liner however, is too light weight in the arms and it is like wearing a vest. Your torso is warm but your arms are very cool. I give the jacket combo 5 out of 10 and would have rated it much higher had the zip in liner provided better insulation in the arms.

This is a replacement for an older T.N.F. jacket that was stolen. I am very happy with this purchase and will only buy T.N.F. Jackets from now on. Has all of the features that I want and keeps me warm and dry.

I've had this jacket for a few weeks now and it is very comfortable and the quality if very good. It's very warm which is needed for the winter months in the upper Midwest.
The only reason this jacket doesn't get a 5 out of 5 is the fact that there isn't an inner breast pocket on the inner lining. There is such a pocket on the shell so if you split the jacket and are just wearing the outer shell you will find it but when it’s fully zipped together you obviously cannot get to it.
Overall I've very happy with this jacket and the prices was good compared to the other sites and retial stores.

This is an awesome jacket - my husband used it in Tahoe last weekend and was quite pleased. Plenty of useful pockets, good temperature control with the vents and zipout lining, and good colors. He wears the zipout lining as a jacket on its own, and likes that it's not just a fleece. Great job - we love it!

i would recommend any one looking for either a ski jacket or even a day to day use to buy this jacket. Looks great easy to loose heat with the pit zips which rapidly loose any extra heat you need to shead. If you are buying from the U.K be aware that another $75 on top of the price shown will be addded for the shipping. Even with this i would still reccomend this to anyone it's a great all round jacket that looks cool aswell

I took this jacket skiing in Vermont the first weekend that I had it. I was warm at -16 F on top of the mountain and stayed dry as I rolled down.(im not exactly a pro at skiing) I also wear this jacket on my motorcycle as it is great at blocking wind and water.

Very well built. This jacket maintains a uniform body temperature from minus zero conditions through the 30's and into the 40's. My body size bordered the large / xlarge size. Tried both, I use layering so I went with the xlarge.
The folks at Backcountry provide superior support and are great to work with!

Love this jacket and especially the modularity. It got me through the Giant/Green Bay game at temperatures of about -23 degrees with the wind chill.
Also, Backcountry's service was outstanding. I highly recommend both.

This lightweight jacket works great for everything from casual wear, camping, and hiking (with just the inner fleece liner) to skiing and winter motorcycle rides (with the windbreaking shell zipped on). It kept me comfortable and warm even with the wind chill. The versatility is great and allows you to stay comfortable in a variety of climates and the detachable hood provides even more versatility. For snow skiing, this jacket is every bit as good as, if not better than the Spyder and Columbia jackets I've come to appreciate so much.

Great Jacket. Warm, waterproof and versatile.
This jacket runs at least one full size small. My son is 5'7" and normally wears a medium men's shirt. After trying a large on at a local retailer, we bought the XL jacket and it fits perfectly.

Awesome jacket! I'm 6'2" 220 lbs and the XL fits me perfectly. The zipper system that makes it a 3-in-1 is excellent. The jacket is plenty warm and the construction is high quality. I ordered this yesterday with Next Day shipping for a snowboarding trip this weekend. I am wearing the jacket 24 hours after my order. Thanks, you saved the day when my local ski shop couldn't deliver!! You have a new customer for life.

This is a great website with good prices and fast shipping. The coat I ordered was exactly what I was looking for and fits perfectly. The return policy is impressive, even though I don't plan on using it for my latest purchase. I would, without a doubt, buy from this company again.

This is a good, solid jacket. I bought this to keep me warm in the coldest Minnesota winter, and I wasn't disappointed. The shell is great on wind/water, and I wear it in the spring now when it's windy. The liner is also a good spring/fall jacket, and all together it's downright toasty. TNF doesn't ever blow me away, but it's solid. Other brands, like Patagonia, have provided me with better quality from top to bottom, but they are pricier. You get what you pay for, and this is a solid, versatile and stylish jacket.

I think this is a great coat - comfortable and very warm. It's great to have 3 coats in one! I agree with some of the other posts that say that The North Face sizes run a little smaller than normal and that it's kind of a waste of a pocket to have the inside chest pocket on the outer shell. But, overall, I recommend this coat to anyone looking for a well made, warm coat.

When I was reading the reviews for this jacket, I noticed no one commented on the temperature(in degrees) to truly give a sense of how well you would be protected. Well now I've purchased the jacket and I'm letting you know. I've worn this jacket in 15 degree (Fahrenheit) weather with the winshield making it feel like 8. The wind actually penetrated my pants and the sweats underneath, but not the jacket. This protection is great!! All you will need in case your hands and ears are sensitive like mine is a hat and glove set. The wind will not penetrate the jacket!!

North Face does it again. However, I must note it is pressed to keep me
"totally" warm when the temps drop
in the 20's and below. However, with
an additional vest, it is good to go!!

I love The North Face jackets. I always look for outerwear that it not too baggy through the torso and lower near the hips. The cut on North Face jackets are more snug in these areas but still plenty of room in the shoulders and chest. It is a bit snug on the armpits but not uncomfortable. Also I tend to be between sizes, an XL is usually a little too big and a L is usually a little too snug. North Face seems to run a little big on sizes, so a L fits perfectly. This is a great (warm) jacket for the price. The removable liner feature is awesome. The only problem is that the liner does not have a pocket on the inside so when the liner and shell are zipped together there is no inside pocket which I usually use for my wallet when skiing. It was recommended to me by some friends. I like to shop around when purchasing gear and ALWAYS find myself returning here. The prices can't be beat and the service and delivery are amazing (not to mention the goat sticker that comes with your gear, which is now displayed on the window of my car).

Versatile jacket with removable liner and hood. The North Face line seems to run small and my jacket is not as comfortable with the liner in and a heavy shirt underneath. The XL size was way too large, so this seems like a sizing quirk. I generally love the jacket and find the quality unmatched by Columbia or other makes.

I bought this jacket for my teenage son & he really likes it! We did have to exchange for the next size up---it seemed to run small for what he would normally wear, but he also wanted room to wear layers under it. He used it right away for going skiing and the versatility of the jacket made it a great purchase! Would highly recommend.

This jacket is absolutely worth every penny. I bought it to go snowboarding and for those cold NYC nights, and it's been great so far. The zip in feature is great, fits well, and has pockets galore... Highly recommended, if you want to stay war
